I got my Mirena inserted last thursday, on the 24th of January. For 2 days I had moderate cramps, and then they started getting worse - Advil nor Tylenol were working anymore and I was in the most pain I've ever been in my life. I got it taken out last night... $400 spent on a week of excruciating pain. Does anybody know if they do refunds? I don't have the Mirena anymore I had to go to emergency a few times because of it and they took it out there.

I had Mirena for at least 7 mths then started getting regular light periods, igot one last very heavy period then nothing. Then at least 8 weeks later i was pregnant. All my periods etc coincided with what i thought would happen wirh the first year of a mirena. A scan couldnt locate the mirena so it had fallen out at some stage. Im not stupid or unobservant but did not notice it had fallen out. The string was cut very short so i did not check it monthly. Im now 14 weeks pregnant with my 3rd.

I've had Mirena for 5 yrs now, I'm actually heading in tomorrow morning to get it taken out and a new one put in. I've never had any issue with it at all and it's def been the best bc I've ever used! I get spotting now and again but nothing too bothersome. Also some light cramping but eh no worse than back in the day on the pill. I've never felt it nor has my boyfriend had any issues. Also I'm surprised to see all these posts on having a sweet tooth. I've def not seen any changes to that, I've never really been one for sugary stuff and still not now. Always been a salty tooth haha but haven't had cravings or anything. I have seen a decrease in my sex drive at times but eh not so bad to live with. Also have had slight skin issues but the clear up. So yea definitely happy with this as my birth control option :) I'm bummed to hear other people have had problems with it...could there possibly be incorrect insertions? Hmmm

i was told to wait at least weeks after insertion. I also had complaints from my boyfriend so I had mentioned it to my doctor when i went in for a checkup. She trimmed the strings to they aren't as bothersome to him, but i can still check to make sure it's there.

I've had the mirena for over a year an mine just fell out I think... so I'm kinda freaking out. An I was told to wait 6wks before I had sex but I had just had surgery an then that put in. So but I actually been loosing weight. I went from size 7 an 8s to 1/2. An I don't eat many sweets its like I've lost my craving for sweets. Its weird. But how dangerous is it if it did fall out an how fast can u get pregnant after?

I had a mirena put in on August 28th it was one of the most painful experiences of my life and I have had three kids. The side effects were crazy. Mine fell out on it's own today when I went potty September 9th. It stayed in less then two weeks guess my body really didn't want it because it got rid of it on it's own. Should I worry about internal damage or infection seeing as how it fell out all by it's self??

Hi all just thought id share that ive had 4 iuds fall out on their own. 3 Mirenas and 1 paraguard . Sometimes the body rejects a foreign object so ive been told. You definitely gain a few pounds due to the sweets but it works great while its in plus light to no periods. I guess everyones body is different and adjust differently but the possibility of it coming out on its own is for sure.

I have had the Mirena IUD for about 3 years 10 months.  I chose this because of my extremely heavy periods and the idea was to reduce these, which, eventually, it did.  That said, over the past 2 weeks I experienced much heavier bleeding and some cramping.  I called by doc and they got me in.  I told her that I'd read online that bleeding like that could be the result of slippage in the IUD, but she said if that had happened, I would be in severe pain.  That was 5 days ago.  This morning, I was brushing my teeth and could tell I was passing something substantial.  I checked and found a large clot with the intact IUD contained within it.  I called my doc and let them know.  Having read around on other sites, it seems clear to me that I am not the only one this has happened to, but it does seem to be rare for someone who has had it in place for so long.  Also, despite my doc's assurances that the pain would be unbearable, this is not my experience.  I have maybe a few hours of painful cramping and nothing much else (though I have been told I have a high tolerance for contractions, etc.). Still, part of me is glad to be rid of it; I plan to find alternative bc and would not recommend Mirena based on my experience.  The fact that it came out and I might not have noticed it really worries me that I could have become pregnant and never known it had gone.

I had Mirena places in a year and a half ago thinking this was going to be a great option because I have an almost 15 year old and an almost11 year old. December 2013 I was experiencing AWFUL breast pain and tenderness on up til now, I this past weekend thought I had a stomach virus but it continued....I told my husband jokingly to get a test and low and behold before I could blink an eye the test came back I was pregnant and I took another w same results!

I went to the dr the next day scared to death that one I had the iud in and was pregnant and when taking it out complications would arise, two that I was prego in my tubes, three here I am thinking I was done and starting over!!!  After about 20-30 minutes of ultrasound I am 6 weeks 1 day pregnant and no IUD to be found!!! She scanned everything to look for it...bladder, intestines, overies, everywhere and no iud.  The only thing we can figure is it fell out!
