Hello, folks. I visited an Indian restaurant last week. I have never tried their meals before. After that, I got sinus irritation. I would like to know if this can be a sign of cilantro allergy since I’ve heard that this spice is often used in Indian restaurants. Thank you for replying.

Hello, there. You are right. Cilantro is often used in Mexican and Indian cuisine. Cilantro is a leaf part of Coriander. Sinus irritation is exactly the symptom of cilantro allergy. Nevertheless, this kind of allergy is not easy to find out. Symptoms are usually mild, so you don’t need to worry. If you want to be sure, you can test it. Until then, try to avoid cilantro containing foods. Bye!

Sounds very much like you experienced cilantro allergy symptoms. You might want to ask your waitress or waiter next time if your meal contains cilantro as it it sort of the in thing these days as even upscale restaurants are using it. Don't bother thinking that you will be able to spot it or pick it out cilantro in your meal is often chopped fine and added to other herbs making next to impossible to spot.

I have avoided cilantro for months, but two days ago I ate a Southwest egg roll not knowing all of the ingredients. The next day I woke up with a sore throat and stomach issues! My allergies are now bothering my sinuses. Cilantro is not my friend!!!
