Can someone tell me what it is?

I've just had sex for the first time about 5 days ago, I have a piece of skin or something hanging outside my vagina. I believe it is my hymen. I'd rather not go to the doctor with this but I will if in order to get rid of it, a procedure is necessary. Can anyone tell me what to do?
