Hello, guys. I am really afraid of mad cow disease. I know that it can be deadly. I would like to know what cause of death of brain cells is in this disease. I would really appreciate if anyone could reply me to this question. Thank you in advance for answering my post. Bye!
Hi, there. Mad cow disease is caused by prions. Prions are abnormal proteins. They are even simpler than viruses. However, it seems that they are deadlier. Prion protein PrP is considered to be normally present in human’s brain. It has a protective part. However, if this protein is folded in a wrong way, then there is a problem. Some scientists think this is the main happening in this disease. I cannot tell you the exact cause of death of brain cells. I am sorry I don’t know that piece of info. I hope you will find what you are looking for. Bye!
