I was recently given samples of Celebrex to try for my pain due to fibromyalgia. After taking the first pill, I had an awful asthma attack. After taking the second, I ended up in the ER unable to breathe. This continued for the 6 days I took the samples, and finally, it dawned on me that maybe it was the Celebrex. I'm not taking it anymore, but now that my asthma has been aggravated, I can't seem to shake it. I am on advair (500/50), and I too am hoarse like some of the other posts I saw. Now I'm wondering if I should switch. I've been on advair for 7 years! I did some research on celebrex and asthma, and found out that if you are a diabetic you would be more sensitive to the side effects (I am a diabetic), if you're on diurecits it could also negatively affect you, and if you have asthma, it could make it worse. So I think I've been the victim of a "perfect storm". The result is a lot of missed time at work and 2 visits to the ER. Should I ask my doctor to switch my drugs around?
You might ask your doctor about Asmanex. I was switched to this several years ago from Advair, and have done well. I too am on Celebrex, but just learning connection to Asthma.
