AMEN!!⭐ THIS is very true. This doctor did surgery on me 13 years ago (neck) and it turned out perfect. And wonderful bedside manners too. As much as I saw him, there wasn't a hint of his personal problems.⭐⭐ ⭐⭐I did need more surgery but Dr. Gelinas refused for the fact the risk of me losing mobility from the waist down outweighed the positives. Dr. Gelinas said there were many doctors in El Paso TX who would do the surgery without any regards to my long-term health. And just to clarify: Dr Gelinas was capable of handling the surgery. But because of my spine health, it was too much of a risk.

The man lost his license to practice medicine. Great you had a good experience. But many of us found our lives destroyed by him.

So understand what you said. I have an internal pain pump for 10 years due to this former MD. Thank God he can no longer practice medicine.

Dr. Gelinas performed 3 spinal fusion surgeries on me removing 4 discs, the last used the flexible rod in my lumbar. While the surgeries were mostly performed reasonably well as far as I can tell; a small piece of skin was nicked off by the scalpel on my upper breast during a dual fusion cervical/neck surgery, and that last surgery is considered a 'failed fusion' that never healed properly, yes the one with the flex rod. I don't know if the rod or the why the surgery was done contributed to that or not. I did have issues with the attitude and arrogance of him and some of his staff. Also, I have come to regret that I EVER had any back surgeries. What the surgeons don't tell you is that after a fusion the discs on either side of it become more stressed and vulnerable and will likely lead to their damage requiring another fusion ... and another ... and another! I received less than 2 years of relief before the adjacent discs were painful and limiting movement. I would suggest a therapy that, at least in some locations, is/was called VAX-D. Belts are strapped tightly around you at each end of your torso and you are slowly stretched loosening the pressing and pressure of the vertebra on the discs. This can relieve pain and nerve compression and sometimes even allow the disc to reform and heal itself. Some find the process uncomfortable and some find it immediately relieving, but most say it helped. Natural anti-inflammatories like turmeric with black pepper should be your new best friends. Try to find natural therapies, learn movement adaptations to accommodate your orthopedic issues, and AVOID surgery and medication. I keep generic Vicoden and Fleriril on hand ONLY for extreme emergencies when I put my back out very badly and cannot perform basic care functions without it. I can now go many many months without taking them. My digestive system was destroyed through years of ibuprofen and especially through ONLY 2 days of oxycontin after one of my surgeries! It took a long time to get it healed, and it took natural remedies to do it (raw, unfiltered, organic apple cider vinegar in pure water with a wee pinch of baking soda and a dab or stevia for a sweeter flavor, and eating to recreate a healthy gut biome); the prescription medications caused more harm than good for that also. I will NEVER get another spinal surgery and probably no kind of surgery ever again unless I have some sort of catastrophic accident injury. Shortly after my last spinal surgery, which apparently failed and never fully healed properly, I also developed fibromyalgia, and that surgery may have contributed to acquiring this disease also. Surgery? Medications? Run!!!!
