I don't understand why but for some reason my hands are usually cold. And even if I wear socks, my feet might be cold. What's wrong with me? Is this normal?

Certainly not abnormal, let's put it that way. You don't state any particular conditions or concerns, viz: 'I'm pregnant and my hands are cold' (you posted under rep. organs and vag. problems), so I'll answer it as a straight 'hands cold' question.

I posted a fairly lengthy reply to question 'cold hands on hands and feet' under 'blood and blood vessel [vascular] disorders, but to summarise briefly:

First: your hands and feet are, as far as nature is concerned, your least important asset. Your core is your head, heart, lungs, down to your groin. Nature won't bother keeping hands and feet warm at the expense of your core. You can live without hands and feet, you can't live without a heart or lungs.

Second: your heating system is like a home radiator, and if the water is tepid, and the circulation sluggish, there's very little heat getting to the extremities.

Third: better to feel cold than not to feel cold - frostbite, essentially - as that means your nerves are dead, circulation is dead, and your extremities are at risk.

Remedies:

- gloves, hat (your head radiates [loses] 70% of your body heat), socks will keep heat in, but not if there is none to begin with.

- increase circulation by increasing metabolism, exercise (in general and when cold) - that's why you see people jumping up and down when it's cold.

- eat: your body is a chemical engine: it converts food to fuel, fuel to heat - if you don't eat, there's no fire in the central heating

- eat hot: eating snow takes more energy than it gives you, by contrast, warm soup is pre-packed heat, saves the body doing the work

- tip: I've noticed when I have particularly cold feet, that once they're cold, they're difficult to warm up with socks, food, etc.

A quick-start warm up that works very well I've found is to pre-heat the hands in warm-to-hot (not hot enough for chilblains) water.

Once they're toasty, socks and gloves keep the effect going.

=== that's the normal stuff ===

--- here's going a step further: if you're open to new age, healing, reiki, etc. ---

Your body is an energy system - several in fact. Check out healing, reflexology, tai chi, reiki in particular for boosting your energy.

Good luck.

Well, hello everyone. You haven't been very precise about describing your current condition, to be fair. Can you tell us where you are living? Perhaps, it might be related to weather or something like that. Also, we might be talking about anemic cold feet and that could explain the cold feet thing. In any case, if you aren't feeling the way you should be, I would advise you to go to your selected doctor and see for yourself. Do all the tests that are required from you to, and get on the bottom of the thing because your health is the priority.
