Hi, I have fibroid in my uterus that is enlarging, and causes a lot of bleeding. My doctor recommended me hysterectomy, and said that I should seriously consider it. I am sad because I won’t be able to have children after this surgery. Is there any way to skip hysterectomy and save my uterus?

Hello, I had hysterectomy last year because I was bleeding so much, that I became anemic. Fortunately, I already had children, so this wasn’t on my mind at the moment. I am sorry because it turned that way for you, but I don’t think you should ignore your doctor’s advice. If your fibroid enlarged so much that you’re bleeding a lot, and it still grows constantly, I think it would be too dangerous not to have hysterectomy. The most important thing is to keep your health, and if the alternatives are not good and effective enough for treating fibroid, you shouldn’t waste any time on thinking about them. During the surgery, the stool inside me froze up, and I didn’t have a bowel movement for many days later. So, if you decide to have hysterectomy, I recommend you to do a colon cleans or to take a laxative the day before, to prevent constipation. If you still can’t decide what to do, go to another doctor for the second opinion. Good luck!
