Greetings! First let me say that I wish I didn't have to visit this forum, but here I am.

I'm a forty year old male, slightly overweight, who has never had any serious illnesses other than high cholesterol for which I have been taking meds for several years.

About two months ago I started getting Diarreah(Sp?) on a chronic basis. Sometimes it's all I would have. Sometimes solid bowel movements followed by diarreah. Sometimes I'll go a day or two without the diarreah. Lately, my abdominal region has started gurling alot and very noisy. On and off, sometimes all day long! Fortunately I work from home and no one has to hear this! I have lots of gas anal and oral and have also seen blood in stool but not very often. I want to add that to this point i have NOT HAD ANY PAIN associated with this problem.

I have discussed this with my PCP and he has asked me to go take an abdominal ultrasound...I thought this a bit odd for sure i would have thought he would have wanted me to have a colonoscopy first. Any idea why a physician would order abdominal ultrasound? Thank you
A colonoscopy is generally done for serious concerns. An abdominal ultrasound is probably suggested in this case because it's not as obtrusive and the concerns aren't too high. It'll also be a lot cheaper for you. It's worth a shot for the first time. If nothing turns out in the ultrasound, inquire about a colonoscopy.

Fortunately i have good inusrance so cost isn't a major concern to me. Stomach gurling 6-8 hour a day, even sans pain, seems a major concern to me. Thank you for your reply.

I know this thread is over a year old but what was the result of your CT scan. I'm having similar symptoms.
