I have been experiencing these same symtoms. Started out about a year and 1/2 ago with a trip to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. I have had reflux for a long time now. After a lot of research, begin to think it was just a panic attack. A year later, have been in the ER about 3 or 4 times...finally realized that my blood pressure was going up and began to recognize the symptoms. Have since learned that pain can cause the blood pressure to elevate. To be brief, after taking prilosec for over 14 days and taking blood pressure medicine, I just felt worse and bad more often. I quit taking the medicine. My doctors have been telling me to have a gallbladder test but without insurance, I haven't been able to afford it, but after studying it quite a bit, I have a regular doctor's appt. in a few days and I am going to get him to set me up with a ultrasound test for the gallbladder. I really do believe that this is what is causing these types of symtoms. Check out the gallbladder and all of the things it can cause on the web. My pastor who has had heart problems in the past told me that he went in to the ER thinking it was his heart and it turned out after a check with the radiologist that he had a gallbladder full of stones. They did the surgery and removed the gallbladder and he was just fine. I am hoping that this will be the same for me. Everyone I have talked to that has had gallbladder surgery had very similar symtoms and were relieved after the surgery. Good luck to you all and God Bless!

I have been unwell for approx 6-8 weeks with a burning mouth, headaches, poor sleep, and a sensation of my throat being the size of a tree trunk, also I feel the coldness in the chest and heat in my mouth. My burning mouth and blisters?ulcers get inflamed if I am stressed, if I eat any acidic food/beverage and seems worse at bedtime. All my blood work is perfect, except low iron which now I am taking an iron supplement.
I am also taking Nexium (was taking Losec). The GP and Emerg Dr's say I need to see an ENT specialist, so am waiting for that appt.
I'm at wit's end...almost depressed because I have no answers...and it seems as though nobody does.
Any help is appreciated. I send out my sincerest well wishes for anybody else who also suffers with similar.

I was taken to the hospital because they thought I was having a heart attack. I had constant pain in my chest and an upset stomach. They found out that I have really bad acid reflex and if I eat anything with acid in it my chest swells and becomes painful. I have to stay away from fried foods, caffeine, and any citrus or tomatoes. It has gotten much better. I do take a pill everyday to control the acid that I do consume. I did not have this problem until after I had my gallbladder removed. I hope this helps some of you.

I'v had this cold for almost 2 weeks now I've seen the the Dr. twice. The first time it was for a runny/stuffy nose with a sore throat so the Dr. gave me antibiotics and flonase spray. The second time was a week later the symptoms got worse where I was coughing a lot and I had lots of mucus coming up associated with nausea. The Dr. gave me several prescriptions cough syrup, zantac, and nausea meds. I am waking up with lots of sweat in the middle of my chest (like a puddle) several times through out the night and I often have this cold sensation in the center of my chest and breast. The kicker is the rest of my body feels normal temp.
And I too get those hunger pains when I'm not hungry.

Hi There

I am from South Africa and since the beginning of this year I have been experiencing a very dry sensation at the back of my throat I have been seeing my GP and have been spending alot of money and still nothing helps . It only happens in day time and when I sleep it goes away. My GP advised me that as long as there is no fever I am still ok and I am not feeling weak at all it just the uncomfortable feeling at the back of my throat and yet its not swollen or infected.

My GP said it could also be sinusitis or tonsilitis I think after all the research I have done it could be something to do with ACID REFLUX at first I used to get chest pains and food use to get stuck in my throat but no that is all gon and I am left with this uncomfortable feeling in my throat.

I have made an appointment with a ENT Specialist and hope its nothing serious.

If anyone else has been experiencing similar symptoms or if what you have been using for this to go away I would really appreciate it !!

Thank you

Thank you for your reply,

I have been for a check up about 2 weeks ago to an ENT Specialist , my throat was in a perfect condition and he could not pick up any diseases.

However I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux which I kind of expected as I did alot of research with regards to my problem.

He put me on medication which I am only allowed to take in the morning before I eat and then Gaviscon at Night after my meal which should be taken before 19:00pm. I feel much better now I dont have that cold dry annoying feeling at the back of my throat any more , he also suggested eating the right type of food as its no point taking the medication if you not have a well balanced diet meaning no milk, no coffee, no spicy food, no fizzy drinks which I have been avoiding I mean I do cheat atleast once a week but I really feel much much better.

I will get you the name of the medication I am on I do not have it with me and cannot remember the name, but I do suggest seeing an ENT it worked for me.

He also said that if my symptoms were not improving he would then refer me to a gastroenterologist for a barium swallow which would be the next step and if they dont pick up anyting then I would have seen a neurologist lucky for me I am much better now.

I would suggest since you experiencing similiar symptoms as mine visit an ENT and then take it from there...

Please let me know..

Good Luck.

I too have had a burning feeling in different areas of my abdomen. It feels as if I have a lump in my throat and my tounge feels burnt sometimes, then sometimes it goes away. I get really nauseated if my stomach is empty, sometimes have woken up in the middle of the night so nauseous and cold shivers that I thought I was going to pass out. I have also been diagnosed with reflux, but the nexium isn't helping and I am thinking it is more serious. I just had a strep infection that took 2 rounds of antibiotics to kill, but then I am wondering if my strep is really gone although the last strep test was negative.

Hi Everybody

I have been using Lansoloc ,

It has really been helping altough its very expensive and you do need a script for it , it will definitely do the job !!

If it is not available in your country ask your doctor what you can use that is similar . You have to take it in the morning before even brushing your teeth and you have to be disciplined as well and you cannot forget to take it otherwise it wont work 100 %.

Also I realized that when I eat food I am not suppose to eat it gets worse so its also important to follow a well balanced diet

i have had all of these symptoms. You need to get a colonoscopy and an endoscopy....acid reflux or ulcers can cause alot of these symptoms.....you need to elimnate foods like chocolate and coffee and tea- caffeine in general. also acidic foods and drinks like oranges and other fruits,,,,,stick to bran cereals and potato yams brown rice apples. vegetables. try for a week . also space out your meals -eat smaller portions..... see if this feels better.. i have slow digestive system and inflammation in the stomach and acid reflux....stress and anxiety to increase these symptoms.

Hi, I also have all the problems. I have burning sensation in my stomach since year 2000. Went for 2 scopes, Scan and blood test and everything is normal. Last year, I had this scary COLD sensation in my throat. Sometimes, upper part of my mouth when I touch with my tongue. I saw the specialist and he said it was acid reflux. I stopped all sorts of acidic stuff, including coffee. But for the past few days, I started coffee, and the cold sensation came back last nite. It really freaks me out. I admit I do get panic attacks and I worry about my health a lot.

Lucky to chance upon this forum and get to know that I am not alone. The cold sensation is still new to me. I hope I am not imagining it.

Wow! Reading a lot of these posts is like reading my own story. I was diagnosed with gastric ulcers, gastritis, and esophagitis two years ago, after suffering with debilitating stomach/esophageal spasms for 3 years. Most of that time I was told that my pain was all in my head since I have a history of anxiety/panic. Once they did the endoscopy and saw all the ulcers, they realized I wasn't making it up. I was put on Prilosec and that seemed to help for about a year. Then 6 months ago I started having spasms again occasionally and started having the most bizarre cold/burning feeling in my mouth. It started with my mouth/tongue/roof of the mouth and over time the sensation spread to where I get it all the way down my esophagus and into my stomach, which makes me feel nauseous. A few months ago my GI Doc made me undergo a pH study (NOT fun, and pretty unnecessary in my book, given my history) to prove that I had reflux. After that he switched me to Protonix, assuming that I had developed a tolerance to the Prilosec after a year.

I started the Protonix about a month ago and my reflux symptoms went away, and I went a lonnnnnnnnnnnng time without the annoying/scary cold sensation... only to wake up with it today. I'm extremely discouraged to have this feeling back, because I was hoping that it was directly related to the reflux and would go away with the new medicine.

I was tested for the H. Pylori bacteria back when I had my endoscopy done and was negative. They say my ulcers were probably due to overuse of NSAIDs (upon the advice of ANOTHER doctor who was having me take them 3x day for TMJ pain).

I don't like the idea of surgery, and it's discouraging that the success rate of the reflux surgery is so low, but if it was higher, I'd try it. I'm just sooooooo sick of suffering.

In January 2009 I choked on some carrots. That evening I went in to the ER thinking carrots were stuck. I was told it was mental and they wanted to give me anxioty meds - I refused.

Since then I have experienced everything thats been mentioned here - lump in throat, upset stomach, gas, bloating, loose stools, hunger pains, sore throat, jaw pain.

I saw an ENT, and nothing was found from the nose probe.

I have seen a gastro specialist, put on three different reflux meds, but nothing helped. I got to wondering if it was stress enduced. Around the time of the carrot choaking, my cat died and that was a bit of trama for me.

Earlier this week I learned from an endoscopy that I have a gaping lower esophegeal sphincter - it did not sound like a big deal to the endoscopy folks, but I have a follow up with the gastro specialist soon to learn more.

Although I am uncomfortable daily I am learning what seem to provide maybe some relief. I am not cured, but I can cope on most days.

I switched shampoos to a type that is suppose to be stress relieving. I use lavendar lotion on my neck and chest. I drink Stomach ease tea by Yogi and I take in honey in some way daily. I am also taking a suppliment called Sam-e.

I need to loose about 30 pounds and I think that will help greatly, but that takes time. I would like to sleep better at night so was wondering if I should change the way I lay my head.

There are things I can work on - thoughts, food intake, exercise that I hope will improve my situation. I am not happy with the doctors and dont really understand why this situation is such a mystery if so many have it. That frustrates and dissapoints me.

Please reply if you have suggestions on gaining relief or have found a doc who is helpful.

Sincerely,
Wildflowerlady
