Hello! I am a 19 year old girl with the SAMMEEEEEEEEEEE problem. A few months ago i went to the doctor because for about 5 years I had such terrible bowel movements causing extreme bleeding and the doctor told me just had IBS. My condition has flipped flopped. I now have constant nausea and diarrhea and have for 4-5 months now. No matter what I eat or do it doesn't matter. I have thought maybe it could be related to anxiety but I don't think I have a case bad enough to cause these symptoms. I don't know what to do and I am scared. I see that this was posted a year ago so I was wondering if you have figured out the cause?

I am a 41 year old Male with the same issue! Along with the nausea I have the fear of defocating in public also! This has been going on for 6 years now and is ruining my life! Has anyone had an answer yet? I've had everything tested and seem to know more about the digestive tract than the doctors! I know that my stomache acids are going into my intestinal tract when I lay down to sleep and sometimes when it's at it's worse it turnes into acid reflux and happenes during the day too. I take a baking soda pill at night to help it and it seems better but it doesn't cure it. I also take (Intact) Control and (Intact) Digest from the health food store. I take it after each meal and this seems to help with the cramps and relieves the sudden urge to go somewhat. I think it's a malfuntioning gall bladder but I can't get a Dr. to run the tests to confirm it. They seem to know more than me but I figured out that I need to take the baking soda pills on my own! The acid reflux pills don't work at all for me and even seem to make it worse! I hope this helps someone get a little relief from this!

Well I don't know if his helps, but I had an endoscopy about 2 months ago and was diagnosed with gastroparesis which is a slow emptying of the stomach because of a damaged stomach nerve. It was only by chance that they found this disorder through my endoscopy because it sometimes occurs and other times I am perfectly fine. During my endoscopy they touched the sides of my stomach and normal stomachs go crazy and contract, but mine just sat there. I too, also have IBS as well. I know there is a barium test that can be done if this is suspected. Or perhaps you can consider another endoscopy. This is just a thought.
I think that this is a good hunch and I think that it might be worth investigating for someone who is suffering from something like this. I don't think that a lot of people know about gastroparesis and that might help offers some insight into problems that some people might be having so that's good to know. Does anyone think this might be a possibliitly?
gastroparesis causes blockage. This is Diarrhea the actual opposite problem.

They just figured out what my problem is! If your are having headaches and vertigo associated with it and had chicken pox as a kid he needs to see an Otolaryngologist (Eye, Ear, Nose and throat specialist). It is most likely from the virus still in his system attacking his nervous system! I know it sounds wierd but this bowel issue is a symptom and not the cause. I hope this helps.

I'll post the name when I get it. I can't remember what it's called. I have a test to run tomorrow. I'll get it then post it. It doesn't even list it on the net other than shingles, which it's not. :)

That's really frustrating and I totally feel where you are coming from. IBS is just an umbrella term for issues all along the digestive tract that ultimately lead to diarrhea. I can't believe in the year 2012 a health care professional can give you that diagnosis and walk away with a clean conscious, it's up to each individual person to take responsibility for their health and advocate for themselves in a system that predominantly wants to send you home with bandaids only to have you return later because the mask isn't covering the symptoms any more. I have the same problem as most people on this page it seems. I cut gluten out of my diet which helped me gain weight five years ago, but within the last one yearI have begun to have chronic diarrhea and more recently marked weight loss...which wouldn't be awful under other circumstances but I do prefer to hold on to my electrolytes and feel healthy. The flushing of my system comes with nausea and the feeling of wanting to vomit, I won't eat all day because it's too painful and when I finally do I eat a lot because I'm hungry and it hurts anyways. I know that's terrible but I have to cope with it somehow. My sister suggested I get tested for Crohn's Disease

The problem I have is called Vestibular Neuronitis! This will cause extreme bouts with Diarrhea because it get's into the brain stem and effects the neurological system that is connected to the digestive system. You will almost feel like people think your a hypochondriac if you told them all your symptoms. :( If a gastro-interologist can't find anything then go to a doctor for the balance and headache issues. The doctor that found my problem is a Otorhinolaryngologist.
