I also used to smell smoke that wasn't present anywhere around me, that no one else smelled. I was your twin in that I drank about 2 liters a day of diet drinks, was overweight and didn't have a stressful job. I stopped drinking diet drinks and haven't had that phantom smoke smell ever again, that sh!t was melting our brains! I drink water, and decaf coffee and herbal teas and have eliminated the problem. Hope all is well with you, Regards, Pamela

Over the past 11 years we've (notice I say WE) have also been smelling smoke in various rooms of our unattached home. Neither of us do smoke of any kind. The smell was so strong that we suspected some smoker was lurking around outside. We even checked the attic. Can't be neurological since we're both smelling it. Could it be spirits?

Hi, I had the same thing last year and I have it again now. I went through all kinds of tests, MRI CT Scan, etc. They did find a cyst in one of my sinus's. The ENT suggested not doing anything about it, as its just taking up void space. I have the smell back now. This year it smells more electric than smoke. It's almost non-stop & very strong. It went away for almost a year. I'm so sick of it. I don't consume aspartame. I've been on a diet lately, a cleanse. It makes no difference. I was eating terribly last year & it was the same. Not sure if it's tied to the cyst in my sinus. Seems like it might be. I'm paying SO much in medical bills from all the tests I did last year, I'm not going back for this new round of smoke smelling. Sick of it tho.

I started smelling smoke about a month ago. Don't smoke, drink soda or alcohol, don't eat sugar or anything that would give acid reflux. I do use steroid eyedrops following a cornea transplant, but have used them for a year and a half. They do irritate my nose some, but this smoke smell has started in the last month. Blood pressure is low, but strokes run in my family history. Have appt to check it out next week.

This started for me about 10 days ago - very weird. My research shows there is a term for this, and it can be caused by something as minor as a sinus infection, or as major as a brain tumor. Get checked out by your doctor.

I see that these are old posts but I'm so relieved to know I'm not crazy! I started smelling smoke about 4 days ago and of course nobody else does. Has anybody found a reason for this? I have been taking Wellbutrin sr for a few years, and Claritin or Zyrtec daily for a year to prevent allergies. I have never experienced this smell before?

I quit smoking about 2 months ago (with the help of Champix) and for the last week or so I've been smelling cigarette smoke almost everywhere I go. I always thought it was someone around me who had a smoke but at times I'd be alone at home and would smell it. After reading these posts I'm wondering if it could related to a previous sinus infection I had. After a bit of research I am wondering if anyone else experiencing this has ever used Flonase. The smell started after using it so perhaps it can be related. I used it as per the directions and only over a period of about a week for a minor sinus infection (only time I have ever used Flonase). Now I feel like i'm getting another sinus infection and the cigarette smell just isnt going away

What your experiencing is, Out-gassing (sometimes called off-gassing, particularly when about indoor air quality) is the release of gas that was dissolved, trapped, frozen or absorbed in some material. Outgassing can include sublimation and evaporation which are phase transitions of a substance into a gas, as well as desorption, seepage from cracks or internal volumes and gaseous products of slow chemical reactions. Eliminating off-gassing is a two-step process, 1. Repaint the room using shellac as a primer that will take care of the migration through the walls. 2. Add the ionic additive to the paint which will take care of any off-gassing from the ceiling or carpeting.

Its those spirits that use to love smoking when there were alive. I stop smoking for 10 yrs and started smelling cigs smoke and my husband didn't smell it. I had a friend who past away not so long ago and she love to smoke.I think she wanted me to join her and it worked i started smoking cigs sporadically. I found that after i smoke that cig i don't have a sign of relief but a sense of nausea but, yet i smoke another one.
