I have the itch with HFCS, too. It's this crazy itch all freakin' over my body that develops within an hour of eating something with HFCS. We try to avoid prepackaged food in my house (or at least carefully read labels before buying anything). I wish restaurants would publish the list of ingredients in dishes so you could scout potential issues before ordering as well. Ordering salad with no dressing gets kinda old after a while.
I think I may be allergic to corn syrup; hives after having catsup, red licorice, various candies ( halloween corn candies), etc but I seem to be able to tolerate corn products like pop corn and GF Bread (which the ones I eat are corn based). I also eat corn chips without any problem. DO you think you can be intolerant or highly sensitive to corn syrup and be fine with other corn products. I am also gluten free (which has made a big difference regarding gastritis and mouth sores - became nonexistent after going GF).

Thank you for your post. I had eliminated gluten from my diet - then noticed popcorn and corn tortillas give me “tongue fissures”. After eliminating the two - I discovered the corn syrup in gluten-free cookies caused a reaction.
I’m allergic to penicillin too - wondering if there is a correlation.

I do. It's almost like severe eczema on my lips. I also get bumps by my lips that are not acne that hurt. I narrowed it to caramel but now thinking its corn syrups after several issues with caramel mocha & coffee syrups from Caribou, Starbucks, and Quick Trip. Also issues with homemade caramel corn.
My wife has exactly the same reaction: itching that starts in her legs, moves up her back, and finally into her scalp. It's a pain to read labels in the store, but it's become a way of life as we try to get her to be as itch-free as possible.
