I'm 18 and ever since I first started my period (13) I've had excessive vaginal discharge. But in the past couple years I've noticed that I go through a regular cycle between periods where my discharge is very thin, excessive, smelly, and I'll sometimes experience cramping. I've never been to a gynecologist and I've never really discussed my personal sexual issues, I've also never had sex.
I just recently began to look into this problem as being an actual health problem... is it possible that I have been living with bacterial vaginosis for years?

Yes it is quite possible. I had chronic yeast infections for two whole years and then after my miscarriage it just went away. Sometimes the changes in hormones that your body goes through causes bad discharge like you've described. It's the change in your vaginal pH. Go see a gyn.
