Hello,
I was wondering if anyway could help me. I’m in the middle of final exams and the way I study is writing notes. So I’ve been writing daily so much that my thumb is bothering me. It’s stiff and sore, the range of motion has decreased, there are two spots that hurt the most, the rest is all tender and sore. Its swollen and hot, I ice it, but it doesn’t go away. It goes away after a little while writing but the end is the worst and the beginning of writing is not very pleasant either.
Anyone has an idea what it could be? I don’t know, maybe a stress fracture, well im hoping not? Any what can I do, I need to continue using my hand of course to write my finals.
Thank you for reading this,
JBI

Give your hand a break. Instead of using your hand to write notes, you can use a digital voice recorder, or the word processor of your computer. It certainly is a lot easier to type than to write. I remember during my college days, I often studied with other students. One of us would put forth a topic that might come out in the exam, and each of us would take turn filling out the details. This proved to be a great aid in clarifying what we had learned. I think icing your hand would do more harm than good as you can get freezer burns from it. You need to save the writing part for the exam.
