My husband has got impetigo infection. He thinks it will vanish by using soap and water, but I know from previous experiences with my friend who had it that this infections demands treatment and is contagious. I won’t sleep with him until he gets read of it. I have to do something. Can you tell me what the possible treatments and cures for impetigo are?

I cured impetigo with antibiotics, penicillin actually. There are several types of antibiotics that he can treat impetigo with, especially if he is allergic to penicillin. Typical cure is mupirocin (bactropan). As this infection is contagious, I even used separated hand towels with my husband. He may also apply antibacterial ointment, and if the sores are in areas of shave, shave around the sores won’t spread the infection further. You can always ask your pharmacist about other cures and treatments for impetigo.
