I have been suffering from tension and migraine headaches over the past year and a half. In the past six months, I average about 4 migraines every week. The only thing that makes them go away is at least 50mg of Imitrex. I met with a Neurologist today, and he prescribed 250 mg of Depakote to be taken each night. He mentioned that some women gain weight while on Depakote, but not usually when taking such a low dose. I am worried because I have a history of eating disorder. Is there any chance that 250 mg of Depakote a day could cause weight gain?
Yes it will cause you to gain weight and chances are they will slowly move you up, I was started at 250 , then 500 then 750 then 1000 then 1250 , I gained a hundred pounds in one year!! now I am trying to come down but Neurologist does not want me to because coming off of depekote causes sea it's, I went down to 1000mlg on my own had some muscle spasms and headache but got through it. Now I am on 1000 and they are time release so I. ant come Dow. Any more without help so of course their help is to put me on another drug and try Wei. Me off depekote ! Please get off it while u can just run!!!!!!!
