I was perscibed klonopin nearly 14 years ago while getting sober from alcolhol. I was having panic attacks in the middle of the noght, and sometimes no sleep at all. I was taking 1.5 mg up to a week ago. I am now using 1 mg at bedtime, but would like to get off entirely. I have approached this cold turkey pouring the script down the toilet only to reappear at my pdoc for more.
I am still sober (13 years) and am in the process of reducing my caffeine intake, and processed sugars. I am a avid cyclists, and workout before work in the morning. I eat a well balanced diet, but am still in fear of coming off this incredibly addictive narcotic.
If anyone can relate or possibly offer suggestions, please do.
Hallo Chris! it sounds that you are just getting better and that's great. Congratulations for being sober for 13 years! that's really a big thing and even more it just shows that you are able to fight and win! So don't be afraid, this will be one more victory, but I must tell you that the best way to win it is not being afraid to look for professional help, you should talk about it with you GP and if necessary he can indicate a good addiction specialist for you. You will be able to gradually stop with it in a more smooth way if you accept help. be sure that the doctor that will help you has experience on withdrawal support.
Thank you so very much Sandra for your solid advise. I have my yearly physical this week, and will ask for a referral to see see an addiction specialist. I have consulted with my psychiatrist in the past, but never fully felt as though he knew where I was coming from. Be well.
