Hello girls (and guys), this is a bit hard for me to type so forgive me if i start rambling. about 1-2 weeks ago i had an abortion (surgical). I had bleed for about a week and then it just started to slow down, now i'm not bleeding at all. my stomach hasn't really gone down (i still look a bit bloated). i was about 7 weeks in to my pregnancy. i have read that normally it takes a couple of weeks for your hormones to go down, and if you should take a test before that happens it will read as you still being pregnant. i am planning on calling the clinic about this monday, but i wanted to know your thoughts on this. so i guess my question is, Am i still pregnant or am i just scaring myself?

Thank you in advance to those who reply and any advice or wisedom on this issue.

Hi Guest,

If it was a surgical abortion the odds of it failing are almost zero.  They physically remove the fetus from your uterus.  It's unlikely that they missed that.

Yes, it can take time for your body to return to "normal."  You can also have bleeding.

1-2 weeks after the abortion you'd likely still test positive.

To answer your question, you're scaring yourself.  Give your body time to recover.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for the fast reply, i greatly appreciate it. Also thank you for answering my question. i had been told to except about 2-3 weeks bleeding as that was considered "normal", so with the small amount i have bled, it scared me a bit( well, tbh, alot).

You're welcome.

I don't see anything in your post to really worry about. It just takes time.

Good luck.
