Hi SteadyHealth members and readers!
Have you had a cholecystectomy? We're hoping that you're willing to share your experiences with diet and diet changes after the operation, to benefit people who will soon walk in your shoes.
- How did the reintroduction of varied foods to your diet go, after your surgery?
- What would you want someone who is about to undergo a cholecystectomy to know about diet after gallbladder removal?
- Do you strictly adhere to a low-fat diet?
- What are your go-to foods now, and what foods do you run a mile from?
- Have your portion sizes changed?
Thanks in advance!
Olivia

First two weeks after gallbladder surgery I ate chicken or beef broth, saltine crackers, jello and drank lots of water! I took miralax both morning and night with a stool softener if needed. I kept a diary of what I ate after the two week period and if it sat well with me or not. Never eat fried or fat food only cook a little in olive oil no greasy food, no caffeine or pop of any kind or you will be in pain bloated and sick. I stayed away from all fast food and no ice cream. Slowly introduce small portions of meat with no fat. I ate ground elk and baked chicken because I don’t enjoy fish. I also ate bananas, apples, blueberries , graham crackers, toss salads and rice. I did use almond milk & Special K cereal. No sweets or junk food. Gas X will help if you have any bloating. It is better to just behave and stick to a diet that makes you feel good when you eat it and not pay a painful price if you cheat.
