It was much larger than a tampon and for me quite uncomfortable, to the point of painful. Especially when it was moved to different angels. It was not pleasant by any stretch of the imagination

This is so true. Virginity pertains to whether or not you have had sex or not, not if your hymen is intact or not. The hymen can be tear from inserting tampons, masturbating or physical activities like gymnastics.

Hi.. even i am going for an internal ultrasound and i am also virgin moreover i am too scared for this. What should i do? I just want the doctor to numb me for the test is it possjble so??

I was diagnosed with hormonal imbalance and so they had to do transrectal ultrasound to be sure if its really PCOS. No need to undergo transvaginal foe virgin. U can ask for transrectom if u dont want your hymen to be intact. Anyway, i really thought the equipment would be small. Its quite big for me I guess so its traumatizing. I literally cried because its painful. And the dra. Kept apologising on me. I guess, its not that bad.

So right!!!! That test f*****g hurts. And I am a virgin. It’s because you haven’t had sex and your vagina isn’t as stretchable plus there is a possibly of your hymn breaking. Regardless, it sucks- much worst than a pap in my opinion.

It is much larger than a tampon. I had it done to me without informed consent when I was sixteen and a virgin. I only agreed to go in the room because I was practically bleeding to death and I was willing to allow a doctor to look around and see what was wrong. It was physically very painful and I cried the whole time and they didn't stop, despite my obvious distress. Later on, as an adult in a different state, the technician refused to perform the transvaginal ultrasound on me because I was a virgin, and did transabdominal instead. I am grateful to her. Without that, I would still probably think what happened to me at sixteen was "OK" or "not so bad." It really was nothing short of sexual assault.

I just wanted to post my small story and get some recent comments going on here...

I am also a virgin and transvaginal ultrasound was requested. I had abdominal pain and I’m bloated all the time. I look pregnant. I went in to the ultrasound completely scared and somehow the question of my virginity popped up and I told her I was and she said she was not allowed to perform that. She only did a pelvic/abdominal scan and that found nothing. I’m worried there is still something else going on. She made it sound like it was illegal for them to perform that because people “lose their virginity’s” but after reading this thread it sounds like if the doctor ordered it that it has to be done. This was about a year ago, so thank you for sharing your stories. I will be calling my doctor this week because my pain is back.

As annoyed as I am, though mostly terrified, that I need to get a TV, I think it's the best option to see what's up with my ovaries/uterus etc. My eggs are busted fr fr, three years and no menstrual, but a girl is bALDINg (PCOS?). Way to terrified to have a pap with all the stories. Haven't had any intercourse or shoved any cucumbers, toys, tampons, eggplants, and phalanges so my biggest worry is ending the session with a torn vagina and a limp for the rest of my life. I easily cry and get very nervous/anxious so we'll see how it turns out.

Humor is my coping mechanism so don't come for me ladies, i'm only joking on the tampons. Okay kidding. I won't have my appointment till probably a month or two from now so maybe I'll comeback after I'm broken for an update. -Y

I am an ultrasound tech & the misinformation you put on here is appaling. First, we do not let the patient insert the probe! Second, great care is taken to maintain patient comfort! The only way to get a really good look at the ovaries is Transvaginal ultrasound. Your old enough to be able to have this procedure performed. Its NO LESS COMFORTABLE than inserting a tampoon. Although, as a person who lives with PCOS myself, I have had a few Transvaginal Ultrasound exams. they are truly nothing to be worried about! I promise

Humor…...or your lack of in this case, in this site, can be mistaken for fact for those that are not properly informed & take what they read on the internet for face value. The replies to this "question" make me sick. This is why this forum, & reddit & all those other c**p forums should be monitored to eliminate misinformation....such as the stuff you are spewing out here!

Again..misinformation abounds in this forum!!!!! TRANSRECTAL is when they go through the ANUS! TRANSVAGINAL is when they go through the VAGINA!!! you people are so stupid it hurts

The first fear that every woman has about having a transvaginal or transrectal ultrasound scan is it's going to hurt because the probe used is going to be very big, when actually the size of the different makes of probe used vary none are really much bigger than an inch across so smaller than most penises.
If you go for one convinced it's going to hurt your vaginal muscled around the entrance are going to be tight therefore causing pain on entry just like first time sex would be if you go there fully relaxed your vagina will be relaxed and the muscles around the entrance won't be trying to fight insertion meaning no more than a little discomfort if that, just remember the vagina entrance is like an elastic band and can stretch to let a babies head come through quite easy.
My advice to you is to Google search transvaginal probe and look at the images of its size before you work yourself up into a frenzie that it's a massive tool they use when it's not.
Everyone comes here and tells there story before having it because they are scared but very few actually come back after having it done and give details of what it was actually like other than the fake new ones.
