I'm 19, and for the past several years I have had dry, cracked skin on the tip of my penis. The skin on top has normal color (neither red nor itchy), but in the cracks there is softer pink skin. I heard it can happen when your penis is the kind that stays small normally but then gets a ginormous growth spurt when aroused, which is exactly what I have. I don't masturbate much to begin with, and this problem surfaced even before I started to. I have seen on other message boards that this could be psoriasis or eczema, but I've seen both and it looks nothing like them. I also heard it could be a yeast infection, but it's been going on for years and I've never felt any irritation. Is it normal for some men to have this kind of skin?
Hi Guy,

I take it you're circumcised.

Yes, it is common as the skin on the glans dries out compared to an uncircumcised penis.

hey in "Ayurveda" this condition is called as "Upadansha" (means dryness due to excessive heat in the body or friction between cloths and skin). and the treatment is apply cold "cow ghee" on the affected area till it gets healed ; means you should massage cold cow ghee on your glans every night before sleep.

Yes, it’s normal – the foreskin is subjected to a lot of friction, as well as expanding and contracting, and exposure to the chemicals in soaps, shampoos, laundry detergents and condoms can make the problem worse. You can help reduce the dry, cracked appearance by moisturizing with a penis health cream (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil) that contains vitamins E and C, as well as a natural, plant-based moisturizer like shea butter.
