I know this was ages ago but I too have this feeling. How long did it take it to go for you?

I can’t swallow bread, pasta or chips properly without the assistance of water. I'm also 4 days late on my period but I’ve been having protected sex. I'm really worried. What's going on?

Hi, guys.

If you've scratched or irritated your throat by swallowing dry or sharp-edged food, here are some general suggestions to help soothe the discomfort:

  1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep the throat moist. This can also help flush out any particles of the food that may be lingering in your throat.

  2. Warm Salt Gargle: Gargling with warm salt water can help soothe a sore or scratched throat. Mix about half a teaspoon of salt in 8 ounces (one cup) of warm water and gargle gently, then spit it out. Avoid swallowing the salt water.

  3. Soothing Liquids: Drink warm liquids like herbal teas or warm water with honey and lemon. These can help soothe the throat lining.

  4. Avoid Irritants: It's a good idea to avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and other irritants that might exacerbate the discomfort.

  5. Over-the-Counter Pain Relievers: If the pain is bothersome, you might consider taking an over-the-counter pain reliever like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, but it's important to use as directed and ensure it doesn't interact with any other medications you might be taking.

  6. Lozenges: Sucking on throat lozenges or hard candy can help keep your throat moist and may offer some relief from discomfort.

  7. Rest: Giving your body adequate rest can support the healing process.

If you feel like something is stuck in your throat, experience difficulty breathing or swallowing, or if there's persistent pain or bleeding, you should seek medical attention.

All the best.
