I have nerve problems in my feet (tingling and numbness). I saw a neurologist and she recommended that I have an Electromyography Test done. She thinks that my problems are chiefly caused by my age (62) and the fact that I have "champagne-bottle" legs - mostly due to very thin ankles - I also have thin wrists. She says that people with this body type tend to have this type of nerve problem in their feet, though it is not a mandatory correlation - just that we're more susceptible to the problem.

The test is rather expensive (I have a high deductible on my insurance policy, so the cost will be out-of-pocket for me). What value can I expect this test to provide to me and to my physician? Would I be just as well served by seeking alternative-medicine exploration of the problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.
