Hi I have been diagnosed last year with type 2 diabetes. For the past month I have had major problems with my collar bone and my right arm and shoulder. My collar bone is swollen and very painful. My neck is swollen mainly on my right side. My right arm has a large knot on the upper part of my arm near my shoulder and my shoulder is very sensative. I am constantly in pain but when I go to a doctor they tell me its bone spurs. I know I have arthitis in my spine but I have always had that and I have just had this problem for the past month. My question is, does this sound like a dislocated collar bone? I have not had an injury so I can't figure out how this may have happened. I am also wondering if a tumor might be the problem. Either way, I can't get anyone to take this problem seriously. Any suggestion or thoughts?

Hi, do you mind providing the name and address of the doctor you used. He/she sounds like a very good doctor. I have the same problem as described above and my doctor says it is arthritis. I also have the pooping bones and slight pain every now and then. There are also times that I feel like I may be getting an earache or the sore throat. I am currently in therapy having laser treatments trying to get the swelling down, but it doesn't seem to be getting much better. I really feel I need to see another doctor. :-(

Hello
I have been reading through the posts. My mum has been in alot of pain in the chest area and she says it feels like her left breast is going to expode it is that painful. She has been in and out of hospital with endoscopys done, CT scan bone scan etc nothing found. She is still in pain and this has been going on since August. She went to see her GP as she was in so much pain he took blood and checked her heart which is fine. He then informed her that her notes state that the hospita found a lump just above her sternum - they did not inform my mum just her GP. He has rushed through an appiontment for a byopsy. Does any one have any idea as to what this could possibly be we are all very worried.
Thank you

I recently woke up with what I thought was a stiff neck, and a resonable amount of pain...I then discovered a small protrusion at the point where my right clavicle meets my sternum...The protrusion is about the size of a kidney bean, and painful if pressed upon....Over the past few days the pain has deminished some and I can move my neck freely, but this protrusion remains...I don't recall any recent injuries...I'm 62 and have had many auto acidents over the years.... after reading here, it seems that others have had a similar injury or experiance...If anyone learns something new, please let us know

Does anyone know if one side of collarbone/clavicle sticking out further than the other could be caused by a slipped disc?

I've had a lump about the size of a skittle on the bottom left side of my sternum since I can remember. I have fallen before on my chest but never needed medical attention for it. Its strange. My mom says it's just because I'm boney. What do you think?

I noticed yesterday that my collarbone where it meets my sternum is enlarged. It doesn't hurt, it isn't discolored or hot. I haven't had any injuries. It's hard and feels like bone. The lump or protrusion is about the size of a marble, maybe bigger. I've made an appointment with my physician next week but I'm a little worried. Is there possibly a lymph node located here?
I have the same problem - Could you let me know what your doctor said?

I woke up almost 2 months ago with pain coming from the joint on my right collarbone. The end closest to my sternum was enlarged and when i put my hand flat across my chest, my right side was higher than the left. i thought it was stress coming from my neck so i left it. i went to a physio who said i probably needed to put the joint back in. I did not even know i had a joint there! A week ago i could take the pain no longer and went to see an orthopedic surgeon. i thought he would pop it in and I would walk away as good as new. He examined me and said the joint was fine, but he did not like the look of the swelling around it. I had blood tests done for arthritis, cancer etc they came back negative. I had a CT scan done, they could not see anything, the bone looked fine, so he sent me for an MRI scan to look for tissue damage. I got the results today. They could see nothing wrong with the tissues around the joint and yet it is obvious to the eye there is something wrong! He said to me that often arthritis starts here. They don't know why. He said i would have to live with it and I'd have good and bad days. I like being active so this is not good news for me. Hope this helped someone.

Hello, I seem to have a very similar problem, I have no pain but my left collar bone is twice the size of my right side. my whole left side of my upperbody (traps, bi's tri's and pectorals) are larger than my right side, now here is the thing, I have been a righty , my whole life and always had been stronger and bigger on my right side than my left side. Over the past year I have been lifting and it turns out my bar was loose on the one side which made the weight fall a little more over to my left side, i havent notice this for a whole year now and one day I looked in the mirror and noticed a huge difference in both my collar bones. what im thinking it could possibly be is calcium build-up because my body is possibly trying to help support my left side since it was the side dealing with greater force. And again, I have no pain, when I lift I hear a few cracks here and there (especially when im benching pushing up on the bar) so I cant see it being arthritis because I would be feeling pain right? Anyways im going to the doctor about this today, I will let you all know my results when I get back. :)

I'm having the same symptoms, where my clavical and sternum meet there is a big protrusion. My dr sent mr for xrays and labwork. The
x-ray is normal. They will be checking for rheumotoid arthritis via the labwork. The area of the protrusion does not hurt but the area above my left arm pit where my shoulder and arm starts hurts and I have to stretch it occasionally and it cracks and feels better. I should have the results of the labs in 2-4 business days.

My doctor order x-rays which showed osteoarthritis in the collarbone with osteophytes, which are tiny bone fragments.
