OK- thank god I found this forum. I just started B-Yaz, like many of you all (does everyone with these issues take Yaz?) and I found a rude awakening once I started to have intensely painful cramps all of a sudden, mid-day into my period. Once I went to the bathroom, a 5-inch string of flesh looking material was attached to my tampon --- this is gruesome, I know. Horrified, it seemed to not be a blood clot (which i've had before), but a flesh-colored, bload coated thing that had just.. come out. I thought it might have been a miscarraige or something so of course I freaked out, but responses on this forum calmed me down. I am 18, sexually active, and this is my first full month on the pill, and I started on it a couple days before I was supposed to have my period, which i skipped entirely. i have no clue what'S going on.

I am glad I found this forum.  I am doing research for my wife who is having this same tissue issue.

It appears that Yaz appears repeatedly in the description of this issue.  It's beginning to look as if this is a strange side effect of Yaz.  I would also be curious to know how many women with this issue are on Yaz AND are active smokers because there is a known connection there for increased risk.

I noticed uterus lining on my tampon yesterday and ran to my doctors office in a panic! It was about 3 inches long and kind of resembled chicken skin. One side was very thick like gristle and light in color. The other side was thin almost see through. It was very fragile tissue and went from pink to dark red in color. I am 28 with 2 kids and i  have had endometriosis for many yrs.  My Dr. convinced me to start birth control "loSEASONIQUE" stating it would reduce my menstral flow and slow down the growth of endometriosis and my menstrual pain should decrease. I was on the birth control 4 wks and things seemed fine, after that I bled for 3 wks. My Dr. told me to take a 3 day break from the pills and then start them again. On the fourth day is when I noticed this skin material. Yes, I took this thing to the office with me I had to know what it was! Actually, I dont think my Dr. knew either. He sent it for testing and tried to convince me not to worry. I feel like my insides are falling apart and no one seems to have a solid answer. I am still curious to know if the birth control is a good idea? I think I will stop taking it since things seemed fine before. I really hope not to see this chunky skin again. This is a scary thing to have to deal with. In the mean time, I will have to wait to find out what is going on when my Dr. calls. I am guessing a DNC or a historectomy will be my next options in the future to help or eliminate my problems.

I am not on the pill and never have been. I just experience this thick uterus wall lining during my third day on my period and I could have possibly had a miscarriage. I had woken up with sweats and a fever this morning and then that gross/interesting piece of thick tissue came out of my vag. Thoughts?

yes, this exactly! Just happened yesterday morning and I've been freaked out that I miscarried -- despite being on the Pill (for PMS)...and my husband has a vascectomy! Going to doc in the AM, but feel relieved to have found this thread in the meantime.

Ive been on BC for 6 months now and every month.since I started, I get the skin looking clump everyone is talking about. Its freaky, especially since doctors apparently have no idea what we are talking about. There are all these women who are posting this problem but not one explanation has been proffered.

I wanted to follow up -- I felt confident I'd just passed excessive lining after reading these posts, and my OB-GYN confirmed it (I brought her a sample) -- she said blood clots can look white/gray if they've been hanging out, unable to release w/ skipped periods. I referenced this forum and she agreed that when prescribing BCPs with uninterrupted pill cycles, docs need to emphasize this possible blood clotting, because it is alarming for those who've never experienced it.

CHILL! it is JUST excessive lining! THERE IS NOTHING WRONG! YOU ARE NOT HAVING A MISCARRIAGE! if you don't want tit to happen then dont skip a period intentionally! God almighty I am 18 and know this just from f*****g experience.

That's great that you have this knowledge/experience at 18 -- just know that it's -- obviously -- not a common manifestation of one's menstrual cycle. I've had 20+ years more periods than you, on and off the pill, pre- and post-pregnancy, and had NEVER experienced this before a month ago. I also consulted with a friend who is a nurse midwife and fertility specialist, and SHE wasn't familiar with this propensity for excessively clumpy shedding. So CHILL yourself, smartypants, and lay off the caps lock key.

Happened to me today. I am FREAKED out. I have one child. Not on BC. Not sexually active at the moment. But I have started working out. I run 6 miles 5 days a week. Ive never had mestrual cramps in my life...ever. but In the shower chunks blew and fell in the tub. I collected the largest one about the size of a 50 cent piece. Looked at it. Then tossed it in the toilet to collect myself. I've always had clots in the past but this one was way bigger then the rest. After I got out the shower I looked in the toilet at it and as the blood plasma separated the clot looked like it had white ropes wrapped around it kinda like the roots of a plant. Now that I think about it, I didn't get a clot last month at all. Perhaps its two months of build up? Either way...that was the nastiest thing I've ever seen. I've. Been searching online and I found that clots can be because of recent weight loss....idk...I'll keep a sharp eye on it from now on and take the next piece to the doctor...I just hope it dosnt happen again.

I am currently on the Depo-Provera shot and have had some weird symptoms as well. I got on the shot about a month and a half ago and haven't had a period.... until now. It was a week before i would normally but i chucked it up to the extra hormones in my body. So my "period" (cause i still don't know what's going on) was VERY light and was mostly brown but began to get more pink and more red. I had the most painful cramps for two days!! My back and abdomen all hurt very bad.... like i was being stabbed! But anyways i felt the urge to pee so i did and i felt this thing come out. When i looked it was grey and brownish looking and maybe a little bigger than a quarter. I am still REALLY freaked out because i thought i had miscarried.... however, hearing other stories of strange fleshy things coming out is making me worry less.

I have been reading through many of the posts to this thread, and there does not seem to be an absolutely solid correlation between birth control, body type, period ir/regularity, and the appearance of these chunks of tissue things. I don't have any useful information to add, but I'll just share my experience. I'm thinking of talking to a relative in the medical profession; if she has insights, I'll be back to post them. People seem really in the dark on here.

This was a couple days ago. I was on my period even though I was in the middle of a pack of Yaz, which isn't surprising because I'd stopped taking it two months before and my cycle was all out of whack. I was in the shower when out came two pieces of triangular-shaped flesh that looked a bit like chicken flesh, light coloured with dark red edges, about 2" in size. There were also several large clots of blood. Though I'd been having cramps (I always have), there was no pain at that time, but it really freaked me out so naturally I took pictures of the fleshy pieces of...whatever.

If I find anything out on this, will post.

Good luck.

This happened to me last week and I'm a little bit worried... every site is telling me it's a miscarriage! I don't think that's possible as I've been on the pill ( I joined 2 months worth - so don't know if this is why) me and my partner don't use any other type of protection as i relied on my pill to work... when i came on my period (baring in mind i had missed one or two periods) i was in great pain I am really unsure as to why this was and can only think of two reasons one being how i messed about with my pill or the other being a miscarriage... can anyone with some medical knowledge please give me some information?
