I recently had a decidual cast caused by the progesterone that I was given to treat endometriosis. Developing them is somewhat common but passing them is rare. I gave birth to a piece of uterine tissue about 3 inches by 6 inches and it was the most unbelievably excruciating pain I've ever experienced. This was diagnosed at the er. I'm now scheduled for a hysterectomy.

You guys... no need to freak out. Most likely all of these instances were just a decidual cast, which is common with women who are on hormonal birth control

Why is everyone overlooking BloodyTrixie's response. It's almost as if you want someone to tell you something is wrong. Most likely, Nothing. Is. Wrong. If pain is involved, go see a doctor, sure. Also, you should see your physician on a regular basis for check ups. But a little tissue from time to time is normal. You can't shed the lining of your uterus without, well, shedding the lining of your uterus!

That's true .were are so waiting but no answer. Is there any doctor who does reseach on this matter. Seemingly every woman, sexcual active or not, we are all experiencing the same problem. And I also noticed that most female expriencing this are taking a pill. so is there any problem with the pill we are all taking ?or symthoms of early stage cancer.?or its just normal ?.

This is normal. When we shed the uterine lining, it's normally desolved and comes out in the form of blood, clots and stringy, jelly type menstration. On occasion, this lining doesn't dissolve like normal. Instead, the lining is shed in one large piece or multiple pieces that are larger than normal. The abnormally painful cramping is the result of intense contraction of the uterus in order to discharge the tissue that is shed.

So maybe "normal" may not seem like the best word. But it is very common.

If you are still unconvinced, look up decidual cast. Some of the pictures are bound to be much worse than what most of us have experienced, but most will resemble the same tissue that most have described passing.

I'm no doctor, but I am a nurse. Hopefully this will out some minds at ease.

I'm 17 and I'm on deppo shots. This period started oddly the blood was like old dark practically black blood but it was very light. Before that started I had some minor cramps. After a week it hadn't stopped it actually got heavier and the blood became red and the night that it became red a large chunk of tissue appeared. After the tissue appeared my blood flow seemed to stop almost immediately. But there is still some light pink grayish colored fluid I think is just weird blood. Please tell me what this is.

Anyone experiencing this problem should look into decidual cast. This is what happened to me.

What treatment did you have for endometriosis?

I had the same thing happen to me. I wasn't on the pill and older. But mine turned out to be fibroids. Tumors in my uterus and cervix. So you should defiantly talk to your Dr. about it.

The other day i pulled out my tampon and a sheet of flesh fell out afterwards. I would say it was 2" by 2". I bled through the combined pill after taking 2 packs back to back bearing in mind i regularly take it for up to 6 months at a time to help regulate my period over exams and holidays etc. I'm 18 and I do have regular sex - can anyone tell me what this could be?
