I had my hysterectomy in 2003. I still have ovaries, but the uterine fibroids were so bad the surgery had to be abdominal. I started cramping again about six months after. I also can feel myself ovulating. I go though the whole period thing, my PMS, my cravings, my sore breasts, bloating also...but cramps? What the heck. I have had three ultrasounds over the years trying to find a problem and nothing is there. This is now a little over FIVE YEARS and it still goes on. Maybe I am crazy..... %-)

I had an abdominal hysterectomy (leaving my overies). I had fibroids which caused pain on my left side prior to surgery. I also had major scarring from my c-section 20 years ago. It has been six weeks since my surgery and my inside disolvable stitches are still not completely disolved. I have pain in the lower left side of my stomach which seems like it is affecting my left leg or the muscles in it. After walking or standing for a while, causing a tightening/cramping pain in my left bottom stomach and top inside of my left leg. When I get up in the morning I have to lean on my dresser for a minute until I feel my left leg gets some strength back. Does this sound familiar to anyone? My doctor says I am healing slowly and has put me on antibiotics, she wants me to stay on leave a couple more weeks. ?

I had a hysterectomy over five years ago because of extreme endometriosis and everything was taken out except a partial ovary. I had ovarian cysts at 16 and continued to get them into my 30's. After I reached 40 I was tired of laying in the fetal position in my office during my menstrual so I went with the surgery. I was an avid exerciser, I owned a gym and worked out everday and ate well. After the hysterectomy I still experienced intense cramping on the side with the ovary and my OB doctor told me they found nothing wrong and maybe I should go to my regular MD. To this day I still get cramping from time to time and sometimes worse than others. I know I am going through menopause and do not take anything other than herbal remedies. Let's face it, nothing is going to make us 100% again and nothing is going to make us 20 years younger so enjoy all the good times and laugh through the rest.

I had a complete hysterectomy in June 2007. One ovary was left in tact. Every month around the same time I suffer with these terrible cramps. I used to spot, but it is not so bad now. However the cramps do not go away. I never had such cramps while I had my period. I went to my doctor who did the surgery and he said it should not be happening. He talked about going back in to burn the end of something , not sure what, but I did not want to hear about surgery again.
The cramps are excruiating. Defecating is also painful as well around this time.
Somebody please tell me what to do!!!!

I am so happy that I have found this site. I too have had a partial hysterectomy (I have both ovaries) and I continue to go through the motion of a period. My breast get tender, bloating and the painful cramps. Now my husband and I thought the surgery would also do away with the painful cramps along with the heavy bleeding. So when I started the cramping again, he looked at me with great confusion.

I'm going to call my Dr. in the AM because now I have proof....I am not CRAZY!

LOL!

I to have experienced and an expert told me to ask my GYN about Leviator Ani Syndrome. I will and I'll post again. Today I am about 6 1/2 post supercervical abdominal hysterectomy with removal of ovaries & tubes. I am on Vivelle Dot .1 mg and and estrogen tab w/testosterone in it. My breast have hurt so bad. I have had the cramping on and off for 3 wks after the surgery and today had spotting that was bright red. It wasn't much but it worried me. All I've ever had before was a light brown discharge. Oh and I've had TONS of cervical mucous. Probably from the estrogen and taking mucinex for a cold. It sucks because I thought I'd be pain free by now....

YEs, I am getting these too... 7 months post op... breast swelling and sorenes too.. I do have both ovaries, but one may be going... they can't tell if the pain, which is severe enough to avoid intimacy and send me to the ER every several months... they just want to give me painkillers... I am a chronic pain patient (nerve damage in face due to skull infection)

Oh yeah they can't tell if it is appendicitis or the ovary...

So if I am in pain... I am really in pain since I take pain meds daily.

and two....

Shoeving pain meds at people does nothing to solve the problem causing the symptoms.. pain is a sypmtom of a deeper problem.

Premarin did not help me either

Also I ahve "rough spot" I thnk on the cuff which is very painful and bleeds slightly during intimacy...

Poor husband, I don't care if I ever am intimate again.

I am two years post-op, I kept my ovaries but my uterus is completely gone (fibroids). I had horrific cramps from age 11 until hysterectomy at 46. I am now feeling a sensation that feels awfully much like cramping. I am utterly perplexed. I was glad to read about about the tender spot 'on the cuff' as I have that also. It's sort of rough, and regardless of quantity of lube, it hurts.

I will tell you what happened to my mom, post hysterectomy. They left her one quarter of one ovary. They had not removed every speck of endometriosis during her hysterectomy. The tiny bit of ovary was enough to stimulate the endometriosis to grow, until it choked her intestine. She had to go back (can't remember if it was one or two years) and they had to take a chunk of her colon out and remove all the endometriosis. (I think they took the rest of the ovary) [then she spent a lot of time looking for ideal HRT and eventually got breast cancer and is with us no longer.] So, I worry that it's the endometriosis.

for those who had a complete hysterectomy , ovaries included... one thing to check into is: ovarian remnant syndrome. its rare, but if it happened to me, it can happen to anyone. long story short, ovarian tissue remains, cysts form, give off estrogen as a normal ovary, and, pain persisists. My dr said OHHH NO its not that. had another surgury and sure enough, it was. Just thought Id share.

Now im going through another pain event, not sure what it is this time.. its been 2 years since my hysterectomy, a year since the removal of the ovarian remnant. im lost confused and HURT.

I completley feel for you guys.
