Hey there - so what happened with the small rubber band? In the past i had surgery to remove an external hemorrhoid caused by a blood clot when i was not watching what i was eating. Please DO NOT consider cheddar cheese in the brick form then washing it down with a glass of milk because this is the worst combination possible - it will feel like you are sh**ting bricks then you will probably have to go for surgery. This was almost twenty years ago - since then i stopped drinking milk - now i take calcium supplements - the problem is those supplements can cause constipation if you take too much at one time - if the average person needs 1000mg per day do not take more than 666mg if the supplements are 333mg each because the body cannot absorb much more than this anyways - besides if you are taking supplements in 333mg size then if you take two of these at night you are going to have constipation in the morning - it is better to take 666mg in the morning then 333mg at night.

I bought a skin tag removal kit from the UK. I can handle a bit of pain so I figured I'd try it. Worst case scenario I go to the doctor to get the band removed. So I put two on last night. I have skin tags about the size of a black been, not big at all. putting it on was fine but an hour later I woke up with some hot pain. Took three extra strength Tylenol and the pin went away. This morning there was no pain but by the afternoon it was starting to hurt pretty major and I was walking funny. I'm feeling kind of nauseous from the pain so I've popped some more Tylenol. Frankly the pain isn't killing me and sounds about on par with the surgery. I'm not sure how long it will take but I'll post again when they fall off.

How did the self-banding go for the external hemorrhoids? I have 3 external ones for YEARS now. The Surgeon said Hemorhoidectomy is the only way to go but seriously painful. Advic because I'm considering self banding.

I just had surgery 6 days ago. I had an hemorrhoid just after the first pregnancy at delivery 40 years ago and I can tell you that it does not get any better . I am not a doctor but my doctor told me that if I have this external hemorrhoid then I have the same amount inside. I am on the recovery mode this week has been the most pain I ever had in my life I have a high tolerance to pain but nothing prepared me for the recovery. It took 4 days before I could find the courage to go for my firs BM excruciating is not even a word to describes the intensity of the pain however I think I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had the hemorrhoid for 40 yrs and had to use 5 to 6 baby wipes to clean myself every time and still end up with dirty pants. I had enough and believe I made the right decision. You exchange one week of pain for relief for the rest of your life . Good luck

How did this work out for you? Does anyone know about this: internal banded hems fall off in 1-2 days. Would we expect the same with banded external? If so, why can't a long lasting local be given as in the case of surgery, and then intense pain meds for the other time needed? It would seem more comfortable than the surgery recovery.

I'm a 48 year old male who just finished banding a large prolapsed hemorrhoid. I lived with it coming and going for 35 years and every few years I lanced with a scalpel and removed a few bb sized blood clots each time. Although it may sound extreme it works well and provides immediate relief. This time it was just too big though and I didn't want to risk going to far up in the canal with the knife. So instead I used several increasingly smaller sized dental latex rubber bands over the course of 2 1/2 weeks to constrict it. All the while I used hydrogen peroxide to clean the bands and the skin, applied 3X antibiotic ointment, and covered it with a non stick drain pad I changed 4-6 times a day for the bleeding. I took a shower after every bm to be sure to stay clean and had no problems with infection as a result. Pain was a different story, it was excruciating for me. Initially because of the hemorrhoid itself and the banding perimeter, and later just the perimeter itself due the stretching/cutting of the skin that was being turned into scar tissue behind the hemorrhoid as it died. I took some Tramadol as well as green bali Kratom (better than Tramadol) at first and switched over to Ibuprofen after a week. After 2 1/2 weeks it finally detached and I was left with a clean ring scar of nubile pink skin about the size of a quarter. I used a silver nitrate cauterizing stick on the small protuberance that was left and it's now withering away. I can only recommend this to others if you are as desperate as I was. If you're determined not to have surgery (there are greater risks with surgery not to mention greater costs) and if you want it done permanently this works, but you have to be willing to see it through to the end with constant attention and relentless pain management. Yes it was 2 1/2 weeks of hell, but I will never have to deal with it again and for me it is worth it. If you approach it with preparedness and the right mind set it can work for you.

Thank you so much for the very last contribution! I was searching for exactly this experience. I am not willing to put up with my 4th hemorrhoid for long. Twice in the past (over 27 years) they were cut open by a surgeon and that was it. Immediate relief! They are always external in my case. Third time, I let it burst. Again, it worked for me but was painful and a long wait. This time I am out of patience. I tried to cut it but did not cut deep enough. O.k., takes some courage, I will try again, this time deeper.
Would be nice to hear if somebody had good results with this method. The reason I am asking is that I am living in Alaska and I am spending much time in the wilderness. No, I am not a nut. I am retired and I love nature and I have to deal with my health in a do-it-youself fashion fully knowing about all the risks.
