I radomly get bouts of extreme pain deep inside my left thigh. It is in the front and side. It is debilitating & very scary. It is a very sharp searing pain...it feels like my thigh is being struck by lightening. It causes me to yell in pain :'( The episodes can last up to 5 minutes with the pain pulsating for about 15-30sec at a time. It is unbearable. I have no other symptoms and no forewarning when they happen. I could be sitting, standing, sleeping, walking. A month could go by & not get one or it could happen several times a day. It is not muscular or cramping and localized to that one area. It feels like nerve. I am a very healthy 33yr old female not on any medication. If anyone has any information please let me know. Thank you
Did you ever figure out was causing the pain? I'm in the exact same boat as you. It just started, but is unbearable. Just wondering what, if anything, worked for you? Thanks! --Rachel
Hi Rachel:)
I went to a lot of dr appts. They found I have a small bulging disk in my L4 & L5 & something wrong with the S1 nerve...so I looked that combination up on the internet & it did say something about the outer thigh....However, I just went through a hard time in my life where I had some depression and anxiety...I almost feel like my anxiety triggered it! I think that is what my gut is telling me;-) I am NOT saying the pain is in my head...the pain is very real and intense, & I am one to never complain. I am sorry to hear you are having pain too:-) ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed*** Please read our Terms of Use
I will say a prayer for you & have a great day!

Colleen - I get the same thing in my left arm, same area. Drs say I was born with it but no dr can figure it out. It comes from mostly my emotions. I can't laugh hardy or it will come out of the blue even while sleeping. I scream it is so bad and collapse to the ground. We have to shut our windows when it happens. It comes from stress, feeling too happy or too sad. I can't laugh deeply. It is like I'm being electrocuted or worse, like lightening bolts.
