Try to count the beat you heard on your ears while at the same time count your pulse in a minute. Observe if they are same or not. If they are same you could be hearing your pulse that is transmitted through your earbuds or earphone. Observe also if it is fast or slow ( normal adult heart rate 60-100 beats per minute but if you are an athlete 40 is normal) The characteristic of beat is it pounding? If your pulse is not the same on what you heard maybe you have ear problem. In either way it is better to consult an specialist.

I have the same exact heartbeat sound in my left ear , it is very annoying to me, my blood pressure is low and I am fairly healthy, I've had neck and back trouble but don't think it's related. I am also a vegetarian .
I've had an MRI which didn't show anything. Wish I knew how to cure it.

I have had the heartbeat swooshing in my left ear for probably 10 to 12 years now and when I pressed on my neck the sound would go away, about 6 years ago I seen an ENT specialist who told me to live with it. This year my husband met our deductible so I pursued this pulsation in my ear again, I went to the university of Iowa hospitals where I met with Dr Gantz, who is a very good doctor. He could hear what I was hearing through a special stethoscope that he had me put on and he put the other end on himself, he could hear what I was hearing and what I tried explain to everyone that didn't understand, thank goodness. he ordered a CT scan that showed a vessel in my neck that routed behind my left ear and that also was taking over some of my bone in my ear, it was deteriorating the bone, like it was taking over the bone. Surgery was set up, November 2015 I had surgery where they cut behind my ear, clamped of the vessel, which was bigger than they thought, had to shave down and rebuild back the bone and then pull a muscle over the bone they rebuilt back up. I am 1 week past my surgery, I do not hear the swooshing, I do feel tunneled in the left ear but they say that is normal and can take 2 to 4 weeks to go away, they put packing inside the ear that has to dissolve on its own and it takes awhile. I had 14 stitches behind my left ear where they cut to do the surgery, had those removed this morning, my next appointment to see Dr. Gantz is Dec 16th, I will know more then. That is my story and soon I hope I will be able to say I'm glad I had the surgery and not say I wish I would have never done the surgery. Thank You.

I also hear the squish squash sound in my left ear. As I read your post, I placed my hand on the left side of my neck and applied slight pressure. Guess what? the sound stopped. Did your doctor mention any natural treatments before opting for surgery? How are you feeling now?

Look into superior semicircular canal dehiscence. Go to an ent get a high resolution ct scan you may have a tiny hole inn your skull above your semicircular canals. Get some info on it bring it in to the ent with you as most doctors don't know what this condition is.

Well after 6 months they have finally figured out what is going on in my head. Have Pulsatile tinnitus in right ear and mild headache. After MRA, MRI, MRV showed nothing we did Angiogram. I have a very tiny DAVF that is in a very small artery behind ear. It cannot be reached with endovascular approach I am told. They are going to wait and see how it progresses over next two months and follow up with another Angio. I am told maybe Gamma Knife is an option if it grows enough for them to see it on MRA. Really frustrated. I am thinking they are going to tell me to live with it. How do others cope?

I've had this annoying condition since I had a nose op - septoplasty on October last year. Noises vary between squeaks and whooshes sometimes it's like someone's twanging a big elastic band in there but always in-line with my pulse. I hear it in my left ear but the noise goes away if I press the vein below my right ear. Weird and sooo horrible at night or ther middle of the night when you wake to it.

Did you ever receive a diagnosis? I also hear my heartbeat when I turn my head to the left.

I have had it off and on for 20 years! There have been years where it went away. But one year, I had a lot of fluid built up behind my inner ear, so they put tubes in, which released the fluid, but left me with the loudest whooshing noises...again! This time it's been back for 2 years and I suppose it's just always going to be there. I don't notice it much anymore, but it was very depressing at first- I cried a lot. I couldn't get to sleep because the noise was so loud. I started using white noise - loudly and it helps me fall right asleep. Or a fan at night. Just drown out the noise. It sucks but there are people who live with worse things, I tell myself.
