My son is 18 and recently he had an accident while playing basketball. He strained a muscle on his leg. I took him to his doctor and he proscribed him Flexeril. What are the side-effects of this drug? I am worried about my son.

I understand that you are worried about your son and want to know all there is to now about the new drug he is taking. I hope that I will ease your mind with the answer I give you. But remember, for all additional information it is best to contact his doctor. Flexeril is a muscle relaxant prescribed to relieve muscle spasms resulting from injuries and it provides relief of muscular stiffness and pain. This drug is not a substitute for the physical therapy, rest, or exercise that doctor orders for proper healing in case of injuries. Even though Flexeril relieves the pain of strains and sprains, it is important to know that it is not useful for other types of pain. It can be taken with or without food and should not be taken for more than 3 weeks. Dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth are the most common side-effects. Less common side-effects of Flexeril are abnormal heartbeat, headache, heartburn, low blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, noise in the ears and many others.

I’ve been suffering from upper back pain/spasms. I have severe headaches too. Each time I have taken Flexeril to help with back tension and headaches it has helped wonderfully, but it lasted on for day or two. Flexerel also helped me with my anxiety issue. I never took Flexeril more than two weeks.

Started taking flexeril for neck pain and have started losing my hair - is this normal? I also had a hysterectomy during that time - would that cause hair loss?
