I am almost 30 years old. I have had what I called a skin condition for 12-13 years. I had been to several dermatologists and they couldn't tell me what it was, I have been to several general practitioners and they couldn't tell me, one endrochronologist (s) who thought it was an allergy to wheat, now finally because I had an enormous boil on my thigh a general surgeon told me it was folliculitus. This condition began when I was about 16-17 years old with boils on my face, then a small round rash on the inner part of my left calf. This "rash" spread to where it covered both calves, a small section of my left thigh, both elbows occassionally break out, and a small part of my right buttocks. I have also hed several boils on my legs which now look like small craters. Recently I asked my dr what to do about it and he prescribed me a months worth of kephlax(?), and told me to wash with antibiotic soap. After researching I'm not sure that will be enough. Finally to my question, after having something like this for so long, will that be enough? and What else can I do on my own to help clear this up? I am diabetic, but this began several years before my diagnosis of diabetes. I am afraid the boils will just continue to get worse if I don't get the proper treatment. My legs look as though they will be scarred forever, I don't know that they will, but I need to do something about this. I haven't worn skirts or shorts in 12 - 13 years because of this. I would like to some day show off my legs again. Please help me nip this in the bud.
