My problems started when I was being woke up in the middle of the night with what I thought were heart burn attacks. By third night, it was so bad, I went to Urgent Care to have it checked out. After doing blood tests and an ultrasound, they said it was my gallbladder and referred me to a surgeon. After going to him, he said due to the way the attacks were coming on, my only option was surgery. I didn't think much of it, due to the fact, both my mother and sister had their's removed and had no problems at all. So, the surgery was scheduled. Afterwards, I felt normal. Had tenderness was all from the incisions. I could even eat pretty normal considering the procedure and never even got sick from eating at that point. Then, about three days later, I started having some pains... thought it was just normal after the procedure, especially this this was my 3rd abdominal procedure (having 2 c-sections before). I went back to work and that first day was horrible, I had a 1:1 with my supervisor and she was right away concerned, because she didn't think I should be having so much pain from gallbladder surgery. I just blew it off, still thinking it was from previous surgeries. Then, the next day came, this would have been 4 days after my procedure... I woke up in severe pain, very similar to the initial gallbladder attacks. I took pain pills and it didn't touch the pain. Twenty minutes passed and the pain kept getting worse, just as I was going to call the on-call doctor through my surgeon's office, the pain turned to the worse, it was so bad, I called 911. At the ER, after several tests and several injections of pain meds, my surgeon came in and said that he was admitting me and referring me to a Gastro Dr. He would be going in to see if I had any left over stones. After that procedure, they said that I had blocked ducts and they had to stent my pancreas. The next thing I knew, they had diagnosed me also with pancreaitis and said it was caused by the stenting. I was admitted for 5 days until my levels were normal. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I now, after 2 months, am starting to get the pains back. They are so far, not horrible, but there... I am scared that it is starting all over again. I have an appointment next week with the Gastro dr to check my stent. Not sure what they do from there, not sure if it dissolves or if they have to remove it. I have tried to do research online, as well, but not many answers. Has anyone went through this before? If so, did you get the pain back and did they have to redo the procedure again? Any help is appreicated. Thanks!

Yes I have a similar problem, I am male 42 and had Pancreatitus for the last 13 years. It comes and goes. Nasty pains and discomfort but havent found 1 Dr that can do anything about it. The last one that tried messed me up so badly I almost died. (He did surgery and I ended in ICU for 45 days under sedation) It came back about a month ago and is the worst I have ever had. 24/7 discomfort and constant pain. No meds elliviate the pain..... I get the feeling that no Dr can cure any pancreas disease. Hope you have better luck......

That's horrible for you and really scary, too! So sorry that has been happening to you and hope someday they will be able to help you. So far mine is still on and off, but not serious. I'm still scared to drink too much alcohol and spicy foods.
