My son who is eight now started school a year ago and didn’t cope very well. His teacher was complaining on his behaviour, that he wouldn’t listen, would often make mess around the classroom. First we used to have sessions with school psychologist but then they sent us further. He was diagnosed with ADHD and prescribed with Straterra. I am very worried to give him this drug as I met a mom whose child also suffers from ADHD and she told me that her son experienced such bad side effects. He became angry and irritable and I honestly wouldn’t want this to happen to my child as well. What should I do?

Although more and more side effects are being attributed to this drug, many people actually experience benefits and manage to get better. I think you should jump the conclusion about the drug and give it to your son and see how it goes. You should of course monitor his behaviour as well as have regular check ups at the doctor’s. If things start to go wrong, then you could act on it. At least, that is my opinion, you can get another doctor’s opinion.
