It is usually thought that only teenagers have eating disorders, but seniors can experience them too but rarely. Some undiscovered illness or infection or usage of medications can be the cause of loss of appetite. In others stomach disorders or pain can discourage eating. If a person has teeth problems like missing or decaying teeth eating is a stressful event. Poorly fitting dentures produce pain while eating, so it is avoided. Dementia also results in person forgetting to eat and wheatear it has eaten or not. Consumption of alcohol reduces appetite. Poverty is another problem insufficient feeding. Still, depression remains a major appetite depressant. Loneliness or sudden loss of beloved person, or severe disease causing dramatic life changes like immobility, loss of senses, clear mind and other all can effect eating habits.
