I had bunion and hammertoe surgery in MAY 2012, and my feet are still a bit swollen. But what really worries me is that the balls of my feet hurt when I am standing for a while or walking long distances. In spite of the fact that my doctor said I could use moderately high heels for special occasions, when I wore my high heels (3 inches high) for a dinner where most of the time I was sitting, my feet hurt terribly and the pain lasted for two days!!! Am I ever going to have "normal" feet use again? I am a 5.4", 69 yr old woman, but active, go to the gym and stuff like that.

I had bunion and hammertoe surgery in 2010 on my left foot.My middle toe is now longer than the others, sticks off my shoes and I can;t wear closed toe shoes because it rubs . If I buy bigger shoes, they slid off my feet. I'm going to make an appt. with the foot Dr., and I'm going to be asking all kinds of questions and have him redo my middle toe at the same time of the surgery on the right foot.

I had bunion and hammer toe surgery 3 months ago and still have swelling. The doctor recently wrapped my foot in a gelo-cast to squeeze the swelling out of my foot. This seems to be working.

Hi all I am currently 7 weeks post op after having 2/3/4 on my left foot done, they are still considerably swollen but relatively pain free, I hadnt realised how debilitating it would be and being a single mum to a toddler found it very hard and for this reason I have decided to hold off on having the righg foot done. If you are considering having it done just be aware it is very painful and difficult for the first 2-3 weeks and will require help from others.

My sister is in desperate need of a good surgeon for a hammertoe/bunion. She will need complete reconstruction as her feet are really disformed. Any recommendations in the Atlanta area?
