Did you find out what it was? If you can feel your heart beat through it, it’s most likely a hernia. I had an umbilical hernia repaired but now I have something hard below it and I hope I don’t have another one. I love working out and hope I didn’t get another one.

How far down from your right rib cage was the lump? I know where your kidneys are but am curious how many inches it was away from the bottom part of the rib cage? Thank you greatly.

I’m having a similar issue. Feel a large lump that I can move all around below my right rib cage. No pain. I went to the doc and he says it’s probably still and gas caught up there. I told him I can only feel it when I’m standing up, never when I sit down so I had him examine me in both positions. He ordered an ultrasound but won’t get in for a while. He said if he was concerned he would have sent me that day. He says I’m totally fine, but I am so freaked out!

Get it checked out by a gynae just in case you've got uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts. They are usually harmless and unless they are causing you major problems might be better left alone - but ask the gynae to go through all the options with you and to explain all the risks, both short-term and long-term (everything involves risk but some risks are more acceptable than others - eg a hysterectomy increases your chance of a heart attack, but you might prefer that to embolization which involves cutting off the blood supply to the fibroids and letting them rot inside you over several months...or waiting for the menopause which might take a decade if you are only entering perimenopause). Re my own situation: I have multiple large fibroids and large cysts, all benign, and have decided to wait for "The Change" as I am now 50. I have to take an iron tablet every day, sometimes two (double the daily dose) because my periods are so heavy (at one point my blood count went down to seven). The periods at one point were lasting 16 days and happening every three weeks. Now they've gone back to the classic 28-day cycle and, while still heavy, last just nine days (normal for me). I am so looking forward to the menopause... I deal with the PMT symptoms by drinking almond milk and mint tea (to stop bloating), eating sage with everything (sprinkling dried sage onto my meals or, when I can get them, eating sage leaves which taste bitter but seem to kill the pain) and, when all else fails, going to bed with a hot water bottle on my tummy. I also avoid salt, and dairy products (except live natural yoghurt which helps with the constipation - an awful side-effect of periods and iron tablets). I also try to do a bit of gentle exercise every day, even if it's just a walk. My doctor's receptionist gave me some great advice: "Be kind to yourself".

That ticking sensation is just your pulse going through a huge aortic valve that runs down the lower tummy. I was terrified of it too until I knew what it was. You notice it more when your lower abdomen is full of fibroids (as mine is). The fibroids push against everything in the pelvic cavity - the bladder, the intestines and the nerves. They are a pain (literally) but usually harmless. However, you need to get them checked out. Tell your doctor who will refer you for tests. And don't worry. Fibroids are usually benign and shrink after the menopause. You might need iron supplements if they are causing very heavy periods.

I have noticed for a few years now. Sometimes after I eat or even during an intense cardio workout I can feel a hard mass across my upper abdomen. I can even feel it at various times of the day even if I haven't had anything to eat. Most of the time I can press on it and the mass seems to break up right under my skin. It feels like I am pressing against some dense lard and it sort of breaks up. It's harder to break up when I am doing cardio and ab exercises or after I have eaten. Other times the mass is hard but easy to break up when I press on it. It is never painful, but just weird.

It's funny, I was laying in bed after just waking up and noticed the same thing. Googled it and stumbled across this. Realized that I had did have to pee, went and used the washroom and felt it afterwards and it was almost unnoticeable afterwards. I'm thinking it must have been my bladder.
