Thank you for this post! I have the same thing. I am also very thin and it is hard for me to put on weight despite massive amount of food I eat. My mum who is nurse suggested it was a kidney but wasn't sure. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Im a nurse (specializing predominantly in intra-abdominal surgery) and i can tell you now that going to a GI specialist and having conclusive tests is a better option than relying on laymans similar experiences or opinions to get a diagnosis. It could be very serious or it could be harmless, but if you are concerned, it is always best to seek appropriate medical attention. Best wishes

Me too. Most likely just your food passing through your caecum (where your small intestine meets the colon, or large intestine). It's weird because I can see a bulge moving in that area after I've eaten a large meal. a bit freaky!!

I've had the same problem, I went to the doctors and had an X-ray and ultrasound done, while she was doing the ultrasound on the spot where I felt the lump (under my right rib cage) I was like what is that because I could see a mass on the screen and she kinda giggled and said that's your kidney. I called a couple weeks later for my results and they all came back normal, I guess it's because I'm really thin too I can feel it all the time it's still kids bra scary!

hope you went to the dr. and are still alive. i don't know why you go to a public opinion site and trust us instead of the drs. that being said, whatever you had, certainly sounds like it grew. hope you are ok

Ditto. Left hand side. Heart beat and all. One U/S showed an unidentified black spot. Subsequent CT showed 'nothing out of the ordinary'.
Hypothesising that it may be oblique or QL-related.
Subsequent to above, had 2 x hip surgery to address tears in labrum, ligament, etc and a release of psoas on last one. Issue remains.

Go see a doctor. It sounds like it is probably just your kidney. Also, if you have digrstive pains like ulcers and such, you should consult a Chinese medicine doctor. They are more holistic with their approach.

I have had this for about 5 years now and have seen multiple drs and had scans, provided samples, tried different diets etc... finally I saw a dr last week who explained to me that this area is where faeces start to form into a hard shape and is the reason it is sometimes hard there. I then saw a nurse, (at a different practise who suggested the same). Two medical professionals having yje same opinion makes me feel this could be credible.

I too can see and feel it move often. It's rather annoying as this didn't always happen but looks like something changes and this is what I'm stuck with.

I'm also a slim person (uk size 8). I'm not sure if this will help at all but perhaps it may bring you peace of mind it may be as simple as your body creating a hard poop!

I recently noticed a hard section in the middle of my abdomen (right smack in the middle) down towards my upper intestine. At first it was small and I thought maybe I had a partial obstruction in my intestine so I tried to flush it out with supplements but then I noticed that it got larger and move up a bit. All of this within a couple weeks so sort-of sudden. I was a little afraid to do research but after a few weeks I started doing the research and found a couple of things. It's right where my pancreas is located and the shape is the right shape to be the pancreas, I don't have any pain but pushing on it makes me feel like I need to use the bathroom if my bladder is full or needs to be emptied. When I researched 'hardness of the pancreas' I found out that it can be caused by gallstones or alcohol abuse and I don't drink so that leaves gallstones. If the stones are not blocking a duct they can still cause problems with the pancreas plus in order to treat the pancreas for low function I need to make sure I don't have gallstones first. I'm going to try and schedule a ultrasound to double check but am going to go ahead and treat myself for gallstones. Did some research on "Cleanse Drops" which is supposed to dissolve gallstones and I have a friend that runs a holistic clinic and will pay a visit to her as well to see what else it could be if the drops don't do the trick. Pretty scary to have found this hard 'whatever' thing in the middle of my body - which I know wasn't there before but hopefully can head off the gallstones causing problems by blocking a duct later (if that's what it turns out to be).
