just got the news i got both herpes 1&2 been married 12 yrs cheated once 8yrs ago but now this comes it makes me wonder did he cheat he says no so can this stay dormated for yrs without me knowing it with no breakouts ever? i need answers

Technically yes, herpes symptoms can lie dormant for an extended period of time, especially if you have never had an outbreak before. However, the most accurate way to tell would be to both go get tested, see if he has the virus and if it is the same strain. Unfortunately though there is no way to tell how long either of you have had the virus so you'll still probably just have to talk it out.. best of luck!
