Hey there. My good friend from the childhood had angioplasty a couple of days ago. He is feeling fine, he was out of the bed and in his house after 8 days. He can’t be at one place more than 10 minutes. But he came back from his doctor with new test and he found out that he has very high troponin levels after angioplasty. I don’t know what his doctor told to him but I want to know one more thing – is this normal?
Somehow I don’t believe that it is. If you know anybody with experience, if you have any experience, let us know.
Tnx a lot.

Hey there Aurora. It can be bad especially if you consider that new researches shows that elevated levels of cardiac troponin in patients who had angioplasty indicate a higher risk of all – cause mortality and long – term adverse event, such as stroke and heart attacks. Simple or classic monitoring of these protein levels can definitely improve long – term outcomes for these patients.
I am sure that doctor told you friend how dangerous this can be. Maybe he still was in shock because he didn’t told you.
But any doctor in this world knows that high troponin levels are dangerous after angioplasty.

Hey. Look I am really sad because I need to write about this. I had one neighbor Alma and she was so wonderful lady. I know that she had problems with this but she never told us about this. She was there for everyone. But she wasn't thinking of herself. She died two months after she had angioplasty. Later, we found out that she had high toponin levels and she knew that this is dangerous. At least her doctor told us this. I want to tell you that you need to find the way to get troponin levels back to normal.

Hello there. Make me coffee, I am really sad about your neighbor. But that is good example for everyone who thinks that this is not that dangerous. The troponin test measures the levels of troponin T or I proteins in the blood. These proteins are released when the heart muscle has been damages and this usually occurs during the heart attack. The more heart is damage, the greater amount of the troponin T and I will be in the blood.
So troponin release down to damage the heart muscle. That is why it is not good for troponin levels to be high.
