I/m a 51 yearold woman that surgery on March 16th.I'm wondering how long it will take for my bones to heal.I had 3-4 levels done and when I went for my three week post-p checkup, none of the levels have started to heal. My doctor has me using a bone stimulator.Does this really work. I'm still have to wear the neck brace. My cousin had the same surgery, but only had one level done and begun to heal at three weeks. I'm so frustated because I.m worried that it will take a long time for my bones to heal and fuse. I was pretty active before I began to have the pain in my neck and shoulder. I/m not workingat this time. I was achildcare provider and unable to care for my grandkids. I'm unable to do too much activity.
Hi:
I understand your sense of urgency. However, you would not want to rush this. A few more weeks of rehab and recovery is far shorter than having a life-time of pain. You have got to find a way to wait this out patiently and follow your doctor's directions. You will save yourself a lot of trouble and pain later on. Normalcy will return. I would be surprised if your doctor told you that you would be fully recovered in one month's time. Patience will pay off here. The type of surgery you had is very serious. Try to find ways to occupy your rehab down time. You will be glad that you did. Please let me know how you are doing now. I really want to know. I hope that things are well on their way to a better place for you.
