How to look older?

The simply truth is that its is in your genes and no make up, dressing more sophisticated or changing your hair will do it. I have tried all of these things and nothing makes me look older.

I too am sick to death of 'you'll appreciate it when you're older'. That is no good to me at all. I want to look my age now so I may be treated with the same respect that my age group receive. This sentence is insulting and makes me angry.

I am 34 and have always been told i look ten years younger than I am. It is beyong irritating. The drama it causes when I tell people my age - I dread it! When I feel the 'how old are you' question coming on I tense up, go red, look to the floor and want the ground to swallow me up.

I would give ANYTHING to look my age or at least 30. I want to be treated like a 34 year old women. I have experienced life, have knowledge and a bit of wisdom from my 34 years. I hate being patronised and spoken to like I am a child.

So glad to read all of your other comments, it has really helped me because before coming here I hadn't found anyone who understand my situation.

It was good to know there are other people out there who have noticed some of the same things I have. My face doesn't seem to have aged past about 17-18 though in reality I'm 26. Plus I had to grow up really fast to take care of my younger brother,  I've had to deal with a lot of stuff many people my age and older have never had to deal with. It gets really frustrating when people won't take you seriously because you look like you are 18. I had a lot of problems at work because my supervisor who was only 3-4 years older then me kept complaining that I had too much authority for my age. I was eventually, despite my seniority demoted and in my opinion humiliated do to her constant whining. It was very upsetting and when I went and inquired about the poor treatment the owner told me he felt I looked as if I was too stressed by the job. Now this job was not rocket science here, I was making pizzas. Pretty sure after everything else I've put up with I can handle a pizza. So yeah, I quit and now drive semis, it's funny to see the looks on peoples faces when they see "a kid" driving that truck. lol

I am 23 year old male, graduated with my bachelors degree last year and people also say you look like a high school student. I recently bought a new jeep cherokee and people say oh is that your parents! NO you bastard this is my vehicle, I work, and probably make more money that you! It really burns me up. I'll be 24 in a couple months and people think Im 16-17. Then at work I have to hear the hey kid jokes. Until i speak to people and they realize my intelligence level. Its frustration, but nothing I can do.

I am 41 and I hate being told that I look like I am in my twenties..people think I am kidding when I say that I hate being told that I am in my twenties but I do!!! ..I need help looking my age. I am a African american lady with a an almost twenty year old and I try so hard to dress my age but I need help....I know that it is a complement and that I should be thankful and all that but seriously I would like to know some secrets looking my age,,,hair color, hair length, style..etc..

I have the same problem, I just want to tell these basterds I'm a adult stop saying "No way stop lying".

My problem is that I'm 19 about to be 20 looking 12-15 . It's been like this my whole life and I have a kid and a bf . Some people think my bf older than me and that's not good because they think I'm 12-15 & were the same age. So they give us looks sometimes and I really want to look older now that I am a mom , I don't want people thinking I had her very young and think wrong and it doesn't help much that I'm 4'10 & have a body of a 12 year old . I get absolutely embarrass when people much younger than me are taller or look older .

I know this is an issue when u are taken for immature (I know as it's been same for me too), but be positive, it has a huge advantage also..

The greatest advantage is that you can mix up easily with younger lot, Those younger people who will be hesitant to talk informally with a senior person will talk with you  as if they are of your group, But you being more experienced will feel unbelievely wise to them, so it will work for your advantage,

This thing shocks most people, when u show wisdom beyond your looks and people are mesmerised. Trust me, it happens,

I totally agree with this, I'm 20 and people think I'm 14. I had long hair and I cut them to have a bob and now people think I'm 17.

Thank god someone gets my issues ! I'm 16 (17 in a month) and am only 145cm tall. As if that wasn't bad enough, I have a face that seriously makes me look like a baby. I can't even pick my own medication up from the chemist without them asking for a parent to get it instead. Like seriously people, I may be tiny but yes, I really am nearly an adult! I have my licence but absolutely hate driving due to the fact that people look at me as if a 10 year old is driving the car. gosh, vent over !
