Reading your assessment is exactly what made me know for sure I would not take this "medication." It is only to keep the pharmaceutical company in business and you out of commission and running back to their product. Our government is rolling over for these snakes in the grass.
Great reading! I was on the lowest dose of Effexor, 35.7 mg for mild depression and to reduce hot flashes. I've been off of it for about 3 days and even at this low dose, the withdrawal symptoms are still horrible! Not as bad as what I've been reading here but I've been having brain zaps, head ringing, dizziness, a little nausea and difficulty concentrating. I cant wait for this to end! I was searching for ways to reduce the symptoms and I found this page very helpful.
I have the symptom of night sweats if I don’t take it. Any advice
So sensible - Having lost a husband, remarried, been through a separation because my husband is on the spectrum, had HER 2+ cancer and now diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, have been on Effexor for about 12 years and now in my 70's - My original dose was 225. I knew of the related symptoms of withdrawal and experienced emergency hospitaliation having convulsions at Sydney Airport instead of being on a flight from Australia to London a couple of years ago. I had only missed one day by accident. I am slowly weaning myself. I started taking 75 less on one day a week ie I took 150 on that day and then reduced by taking a full dose every second day and now am down to 150 three days a week and 75 on the other four days. I keep to the new doses for a couple of months before reducing another day. No withdrawal symptoms at all this way. It might take 18 months but I feel this is the way to go for me. This method also reduces any risks of adding other supplements to an already overloaded system. Hoping this will be helpful to others.
Haha ur post was great !! I am tapering off and down to a quarter of 75 mg tablets. I am going to get the ones 3 and vit b complex to start taking. Doin I'll be done with the sh*t and I know what u mean u can hear your brain rattle I would say. Drive u bonkers, I used to say I feel like a loopy loo, or a dippity do day, like duhhhhhh..... lol glad someone else has a sense of humor, stay positive and one love, when the music hits you feel no pain
So glad to find your post. On Effexor for about 5 months...I could nap all day long and I have what feels like very mild “electrical zaps” throughout my body, none of which I can say are of any regularity or area, bot mostly it’s my hands or arms. I also with have random jerks/movements in arms or legs and weight gain.I decided to taper off by trying every other day but I experienced headaches and moderate++ dizziness. I too have terrible time functioning day to day. I have a career that allows me to adjust schedule to how I feel, so at least there’s that! I think I’d rather feel the mild depression than what this does to me.
So my Effexor story goes like this. My doctor left the practice and my prescription ran out. My last pill was taken on Thursday. It is now Monday and the withdrawals are very severe. I guess my question would be should I just stick it out? Or do I ask a new dr. to taper me off.
Going through the side effects definitely makes me realize I don’t want be on something like this! But I guess my question is if I taper well I just go through the same withdrawals?

Hi there
I hope its OK to reply and ask you how you are doing since you came off Effexor. I have been on 225mg for 12 years and have developed so many bad health disorders (severe anaemia too like you) that I need to stop this drug. I have been opening the capsules and removing one pellet every 4 weeks since Nov 23. I've tried to come off it before but did it too quickly and had terrible problems that I had to go back on the full dosage.
I hope you are as well as you can be.

I have the hypersensitivity too. It’s awful. I can’t be touched. My skeleton feels on fire.
