Hi. I'm 15 years old, and i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time, and the day later my stomach absolutely hurt. it felt like cramps. I'm not sure if my hymen is broken or not. I'm scared about everything. My stomach has been hurting for 3 days now. I don't know what to do. Please help! Thank you! Please!

I'm not an expert on this, but a few things come to mind.

First, it is possible that you started your menstrual cycle.

Second, you might have had a thicker than usual hymen.

third, it is possible that your boyfriend has a larger than average penis, and your vagina is smaller than average. that and a heavier than average hymen could possibly be responsible.

I suggest that you see your family doctor or gynecologist. If you don't have one, go to a clinic.

You didn't mention if you had pain at penetration, or if it was hard for your boyfriend to enter. Plus a lack of lubrication could cause soreness/pain for a while.

A gynecologist can determine the problem.

Last, but not least, depending on what state or country you live in, the sex may have been ilegal.

but that is the least of your problem.

Sorry for the incredibly long post!

To clear things up: the hymen is a muscous membrane that PARTIALLY covers the opening to the vagina. It does not completely cover the entrance to your vagina - the opening allows menstrual fluid to come out during your period. This opening is also what allows you to wear tampons during your period (anyone who tells you that using a tampon will definitely break your hymen is WRONG). If you wear regular sized tampons during your period, then it is not at all unusual to be able to insert your finger. There are situations where a hymen can have too small an opening or not one at all, but those cases are rare. If you have been getting a regular physical, it is likely your doctor would have made you aware if you have this problem. The hymen is easily visible. Put a mirror between your legs and hold open the labia (the "lips"). If you can see a piece of skin around the entrance, or partially covering your vagina's opening, then your hymen is still there. There are many diagrams online that can help you see what you are looking for such as at ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed

How far in the hymen is can vary a bit, but really, depth isn't the issue when it comes to breaking. The main thing that affects how easily the membrane can be broken is how thick the membrane itself is. Sometimes a person can have a very thin membrane that is easy to break; this can be through regular activities as well as though sex. Sometimes a person can have a very thick membrane. Thicker doesn't break as easily, and can even be very painful. The hymen can also be very elastic - a girl can have full intercourse and it won't break! As for bleeding and the pain, everyone is different. It is possible that there will be no blood. It is also possible to only partially break a hymen during intercourse.

As it has been said before, if your hymen is broken but you haven't had sex YOU ARE STILL A VIRGIN! The definition of a virgin is someone who hasn't done something before, not someone who still has a piece of skin between their legs (otherwise, how could men be virgins?).

If you are truly concerned about whether your hymen is broken, or if you have had sex but think something is wrong, then go and see a doctor!!! Also, if you are 18, then it is time to start seeing a gynecologist regularly; if you are under 18 but are sexually active you should start seeing one too. Gynecologists are specialists in the female reproductive systems. They check for things like cervical cancer. Ask your mom about setting up an appointment; if that makes you too uncomfortable, or your mom isn't around, then talk to your doctor or even the school nurse. Don't be embarressed! This is all normal and natural.

Although the beaking of the hymen can be painful, having it gone does not necessecarily mean sex will be nothing but fun from now on. If you are still experiencing pain during sex after you are sure your hymen is gone, there are a few things you can do. First of all, make sure that you have enough lubrication. Don't go for the main act right away - have a little fun with some foreplay and get yourself going. If you are having trouble creating enough natural lubricate, buy some! DO NOT just use whatever you think will work. Make sure the lubrication you use is safe to use with condoms (which you are hopefully using). Secondly, try different positions. Not all women are the same: my doctors have told me that my vagina slopes in a slightly different direction than most people's, and I find the missionary position a little uncomfortable because of it. Third, it may be possible that your vagina is on the smaller side, that your boyfriend is on the larger size, or even both! Try out some sex toys of various sizes - you can even use certain items you can find in the grocery store or at home but be sure to cover them with a condom. Experiment with sizes and see what is comfortable to you - you can even train your vagina to stretch a little, so work your up.

I hope this helps!

I was been fingered for the first time and my hymen broke, it bled so much it actually scared me.
When he was fingering me he said I was really tight. And that it was harder for him to get in.
Afterwards he kept asking if it hurt, but it only has I tiny bit of pain, it just feels more uncomfortable then pain.
So fingers can break it, its just harder. Its probably better to break it yourself because it would be so much cleaner.
You need to just go deeper and harder It may hurt a little when you break it but its only for a little while.
Its been over 10 hours of it bleeding and it still hasn't stopped completely. I'm really worried.
At first it was bleeding a lot and it wouldn't slow down, Its starting to thin out but its not stopping.
I'm really scared because no one can find out. I need help?

Hey i'm 16 and I have been experimenting with water for a while now and have been wanting to try fingering myself but I am too scared! For starters, this is going to sound ridiculous but I don't actually know where the hole is for your vagina! I have looked at tons of diagrams but the only thing I am certain of is that i know where my clit is and that there is a sort of gap and then a hole at the end. I don't think my hymen is broken but after reading some of the posts in the forums i'm not so sure. Are there any holes after the vagina/hymen (I don't know what to call it) because thats where my hole is..Im just really worried i'm going to stick my finger in my urethra or something. Please, Please help me!! Iam absolutely clueless :-(

every girl is born with one but they're not all the same some are just one little hole, some are oblong some are just many little holes in rare cases when a baby girl is born there is no hole at all and sometimes they have to get surgury to get a bigger hymen you will have one until you lose you virginity that is actully what "lose you virginity" means to break you hymen and once you do you will have a bit of blood...but there is nothing to worry about because its not heavy and its sort of like period blood and only last a few hours

hope this helped your confusion :)

Speaking of under educated, your grammar and spelling is embarrassing. Even your choice of words is bad. If a girl is confused about her body, she should be able to ask without anyone judging her. Although it is true that a broken hymen does not mean a girl is no longer a virgin, you don't have to be so judgmental and huffy about it.

Lol I agree. I'm 21 and never learned any of this. I just now read an article called, "7 thing we didn't know about the hymen." Turns out the hymen doesn't break/tear during sex. First timers usually bleed because they are inexperienced so it comes from trial/error. The hymen isn't skin that covers and most girls hymen are worn/thinned by adolescence due to athletics, walking etc. I barely learned this a few minutes ago. I'm still a v by choice so since the system failed me and i haven't experienced so far I had to resort to google because I too wondered about this..which is how I ended up here lol. People should google the article to be enlightened as well. It did say a VERY VERY small percent of women have a thicker hymen that hasnt thinned etc. and causes discomfort during sex and can be treated at the doctors.

It’s funny that your making fun of someone for not knowing something... the point of this is to learn from the site stop being rude if they didn’t know then they didn’t know it’s not their faults they were never told also the original question had nothing to do with virginity it was about her hymen being there or not
