Hi, I am currently trying to find an Obgyn to perform a complete hysterectomy for me. I have had pcos. Since forever, diagnosed 10 years ago and endometriosis for almost as long. I had a lapatotomy 5 years ago which helped for a few years but I am just OVER all of it. The constant posing. I now have high blood pressure, I have lost 45weight ponds since diagnosis, and have maintained a healthy lifestyle. Children aren't an option so please doc, take them out!!!

I also had a total hysterectomy at 26. It took me 7 years of persistant gyn visits and many laps to have a look around pointless amount of dugs and othe professional investigations to get to the point od discussing having a hysterectomy with my gyn then 2 years of bieng asked if i was sure before they finally operated! My Advice for anyone who is considering hysterectomy surgery that it is totally 100% your descision and yours alone. You can get advice and information from freinds and family but ultimately you have to make this descsion and live with it. I missed out on so much of m daughters childhood from my issuses and pain and not bieng able to function as a normal human bieng 90% of the time. At the end of the day this is your quality of life your talking about you have to balance what is more important to you and do it. I wanted more children at the begining, i wanted to get my issues sorted first. Over time it became apparent that wasnt going to be an option for me and i delt with it, felt thankful for what i have and focussed all my attention onto getting better not in the short term but the long term. The strain that gynae problems have on a relationship is uncomprehendable for anyone who hasnt been there, i have been fortunate my husband has stood by me every step of the way and held my hand. I may have at times lost i as men no matter how good or bad do not understand the emotional changes that happen post op. My point is that its your life, your descision you have to do what is right for you!  You dont have a magic ball to predict the future or how you may feel in a few years time. Take your time, you'll know when your ready to make that decsion. I wish all the lovely lady's out there the very best.

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at 19. Since then I've had 16 surgeries.Yes, you read right, 16! Laproscopic and 2 laporotomies(c section)I had a full hysterectomy Aug 17 2010 at age 26 because of endo. I will soon be 29 and still struggle everyday with pain. Im on pain management and hormone therapy and still in pain! So many pills n treatments and I find myself in a corner. I've been married for over a year and thank god my husband is understanding and with me all the way. Always researching and trying to help in anyway possible. We learned about BioIdentical Hormone Pellet Therapy and going to see the Dr the end of March. Unfortunetly, insurance doesnt cover that so its $1,000 a treatment every 3-5 months. I try and surround myself with family and friends but I realize I fake my happiness to cover how Im really feeling. Lately, I just dont want to be around anybody. Im so glad that most of you found a way to cope and be truly happy. Im still trying to find an even balance to be happy without hiding the pain. Nobody realizes how hard this is for those of us who wake up to it everyday and wonder if its going to be a good day or a bad day. This really has affected my everyday life for the last 10years. God Bless all of you and yours and hopefully, one day, we'll find a cure :)

Thank You, Kelly. I am so happy I saw your post at this time. I am 26 and getting a Hysterectomy this Friday 4/19/2013. I have a extreme case of endometrosis and it has made my my life and everyone in my life miserable more than half the month. No fun. I never wanted kids(not that I don't think they are cute). I wasn't allowed to get the surgery because of my age but I have tried everything. Pills(which led to liver failure), Rings and other surgeries(which led to bloodclots) and still misery so finally I can have it done! I never wanted kids but what you said, you'd actually be well enough to actual be a parent to your child is exactly how I think to. I have been at my worst.... over a period <___> I'm always sick because of this. So I'm glad I saw your post this close to my surgery and know there is someone who has been in the same shoes as me. I'm sorry you went through it hun. Everyone keeps saying it's going to be the best thing that has ever happened to me. I hope all is well! Thank You for your post...I needed it:) Tiffany <3

Hello Samara,

I definitely agree with you about waking up and wondering if it will be a good or bad day because of the severity of the pain. I've have 4 surgical procedures and 2 non-invasive procedures in the past 4 years. I was 19 as well when I was diagosed with Endometriosis and had have a right ovarian cysectomy. Two years ago, I was at Stage IV endometriosis and I'm in a significant amount of pain every single day, 24 hours of each day. I get tempted to have a hysterectomy but I haven't even gotten pregnant yet..not even once. My husband is very caring and understanding so I'm in the same boat with you in having a good husband.

I hate hearing that you're still in pain despite having a full hysterectomy. That's so horrible. Have you tried acupuncture? I'm currently doing it now. I've only had one session so far but have hope that it will work.

Not every woman desires to have kids via natural birth. "If you do this 10 years from now you'll be soooo depressed because you won't be able to have kids" 100% not true for everyone. Having a hysterectomy does not mean you will never have kids. Here's a crazy idea, adopt! There are so many options out there for having kids. I want kids someday but I have zero desire to birth them myself and that will never change and I will never be depressed about it. It is not the be all end all of my life. If you don't have to have the ovaries removed then don't that way you won't have to deal with the hormonal embalance. Always discuss all your options with your doctor of course. I am going to be specifically asking for a hysterectomy. I have had dibilitating menstrual cramps since I was 11. Most of the woman in my family have needed hysterectomies for one reason or another (4 out 6) so I'm nipping this one in the butt, I'm 25 and I'm very excited about it. Ps. This is in no way putting down any woman's desire to be able to give birth.
