I'm afraid as I had my gb operation on 1-26-14 and is 1-30 now I've taken stool softener, with pain stuff still nothing, and I've now taken mineral oil add I was told it would be soft enough, my stomach rumbles like it wants to, I felt kind of like I have to go, but no idea how long it what to wait for before going back

I am a 66 yr old male and I had the same story except the ER doctor stuck his finger up there and starting pulling it out as I yelled out in pain. I have no desire to eat and have gone from 204lbs to 185lbs since sugery. Glad I am retired and don't have to explain this to anyone.

Hi I just had my Gallbladder removed yesterday. I'm following doctors orders of eating a bland diet for 48 hrs. I have had no problems going to the bathroom just a little sore from the cut they did between my breast. I have gone pee and number 2 no problems. I think you guys should stay with clear liquids and light food not so fatty. I've been eating chicken noodle soup and having Sierra Mist and water lots of. Oh also crackers I have cheated eating a honey bun but doc said it's ok once in a while. Take vitamins also helps and have fiber in hour diet as well which will help you guys go to the bathroom. I go for a follow up next week will keep you guys posted on how I feel. My gallbladder was function at 17 percent so I went Head had it removed and already feel a 100 percent better. Good luck to the ones that are having problems follow up with your doctor. That's why they get paid.

I had my gallbladder removed 3 days ago also and having trouble going to the bathroom. I've taken stool softeners and have the urge to go and have to strain and strain to even get a little out. Will straining to much cause any problems other than hurting?

It was ten days for me when I contacted the surgeon. Fleet enema did the trick -- compaction had started -- very constipated and dry -- malformed, too. Even the Fleet did not make it watery -- parts were very intact. But, I finally got relief. Stool softeners, Miralax -- nothing worked -- even prune juice for five days! I have a feeling I will be on Miralax every other day, just so this does not happen again!

Yes -- straining is considered to be a cause of diverticulosis -- little weak pockets in your colon. Start figuring out just how much laxative you are going to need to produce a somewhat normal stool. Everyone is different. You definitely do not want colon issues, such as diverticulosis that can attack and then you deal with diverticulitis!
