My family experience tells me that this may be a kidney problem. I'm not trying to scare anyone, but my dad, an alcoholic, complained about not being able to pee. Shortly after, he died due to kidney shutdown, among other things. This was in the 1970s, when I'm not sure dialysis existed -- or maybe he was too far gone.

My sister, an alcoholic, recently started having this problem...and to add to her alcoholism, she has diabetes, which isn't good for the kidneys. If she needs dialysis, I'm not sure it would help. My friends father, who was also diabetic, but not an alcoholic, died because of a problem with dialysis and diabetes.

Better see a doctor just to make sure.

Me too. I have the same problem. I was worried that I was having prostrate troubles at the young age of 39, but after reading these posts I think it's normal for alot of men to have problems urinating after a night of drinking. It only seems to happen with me after a night of drinking 80 proof. If I drink beer or wine I don't have any problems the next day.

Im a 24 yr old male and over the past few years I have randomly urinated small "blood clots" after a night of drinking liquor, beer doesnt cause it but hard alcohol does; or occaisonally after sex or masturbation. i have been to the doctors on several occaisons for this problem and my results come back the same, no blood in urine, small amounts of protein and everything else is normal. My blood count is normal and ive been checked for cancer on repeated occaisons. diabetes and kidney problems run in my family so its always a possibility. i have never passed a stone knowingly. Last night i had a good night of drinking just beer and pee'd a bunch while i was out and often as beer usually causes. But today Ive pee'd 5 times and each time I have no force behind my stream it just drips out and i cant "push" like i usually can, that causes pain when i try. I was told it could be prostate related or a minor UTI type thing. Im also about 70lbs overweight but still physically active person; I was told that extra weight can cause damage to the kidneys over time and especially while exercising. The stress of the weight or even the stress of exercise/sex/masturbation/or damage from alcohol can cause blood vessels in our tubes connecting our excratory system to burst, making them inflamed or even bleed. Sorry to ramble but this is a very frustrating and scary thing to deal with at this age and if youre really scared about it or have a family history of cancer SEE A DOCTOR. but otherwise take the drinking a little lighter, dont spank your monkey too hard and dont overdo the exercise

I've been having this exact problem lately, and not only is it horrible torture, it's pretty damn embarrassing and scary.
I feel like I really need to go piss, but when I go to, not only does it burn, but I can only piss a few drops, and I still feel like I badly need to piss afterwards. I generally always return to normal the next day, but it puts a serious hindrance on my partying.

Has anyone been able to successfully resolve this problem?
I would really love to hear a solution.

Thanks,
Johnny

I've had this problem for years. I cut down on my drinking as not only I couldnt urinate, I stopped getting the buzz, instead I would feel sick after drinking 4-5 drinks. It has been very difficult to not able to enjoy a little light headedness feeling at parties, bars and fine dining.
After a lot of research, conusltation I am being told that my liver needs to detoxicated. I am taking some natrual suppliements as milk thristle etc. Hope fully, I'll be able to enjoy casual drinking one day again. All the best.

I am finewhen I am drinking, it's the follwoing day that I can't go for a pee, no matter how much water I drink, I can only manage a small amount of pee, and it's very dark, this is dehydration. I also suffer serious water retention at the same time as my body stores this water to deal with the dehydration from drinking so much lager. And it's getting worse as I get older, I never had any of these problems in my 20s. I am starting to think there is a more serious problem also at work, my liver is not able to handle it anymore. Well this is what I think. I am exhausted for a good 4-5 days and in bad pain sometimes after a heavy night on the beer, to me this says my liver is packing up and it's time to stop drinking, because I cannot walk away once I start drinking, there is no such thing as one or two for me, sadly.

If you start suffering horrible hangovers that last 3-4-5 days or more, and suffer bad water retention and weakness after drinking that seems extreme, you need to stop drinking, your liver could be on the way out. It's got tot he stage with me, that I never feel well anymore, a sure sign that drinking is killing me. I have made a promise to stop now, and I will. 35 is to young to die.

I'd like to share my experience. I take dox or Lotrel. Twice it happened to me span of 9 months. Both  when i am at a Casino. I remember (the first time i had coffee nad beer and sat for a while playing slots. The second time, it was red wine and plenty of coffee and again sitting while playing slots. It is so very frustrating. Alcohol, coffee, spicy foods and pressure on prostate by prolonged sitting ..bad.

This occurs because you have BPH, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy. When we males get older our prostate enlarges and squeezes the urethra. This begins to happen after 50. Alcohol, fatty gfood and spicey food makes the condition worse.

I haven't had children, but apart from that, my symptoms are exactly the same. I used to get UTI's all the time, and now, immediately after the first sip of alcohol, there is preassure on my bladder like I need to pee, but I can't. This usually goes away shortly after, however it comes back the day after. If you get any info about this from your doctor, I would really like to know as it's quite concerning. Thanks.

This problem has been haunting me for a while. I'm the stuburn type, that when I have a health problem I seem to ignore it and hope that it heals itself. This is somthing that hasn't gone away. It doesn't happen often but when it does it drives me crazy and it's so in comfortable. Tonight it bothered me so I googled it and I found this thread. Things I have noticed: when I drink (and only when I'm highly intoxicated) I have this problem. When I have intercourse or masterbate while I'm drunk I have this problem. When I combine alcohols. Never had the problem if I stick to one type. I could drink all the beer I want and not feel it. And the big thing I've noticed is it only happens In the winter if I'm outside in cold cold weather. Things I do to eliviate the problem: I mostly try not to think about it. (Hard to do) so I take a walk, shower, pack a thick lip of chew or eat food. A BM helps Anything to get my mind off it. I sometimes can feel when it's going to happen. And when I do I try not to drink anymore or have sex. ( it's hard sometimes when you have either ,or dangling in you face) It's so miserable sitting or standing infront of the head trying to piss. If there is a doctor on this site please fill us in. Is anybody noticing these same symptoms?

JUst to add something which I hope helps. I take Doxazozin (which also lowers BP) and Avodart . Up to this point, things are good. Ttaking Avodart does lowers BPH reading by 50 %, but the tru BPN is still x2. Say BPH of 5 while on Avodart is still a reading of 10.
