I experienced a  sharp pain in my scrotum and now both of my testicles were gone

I have had one very large and one normal size testicle for years.  One day, about a month ago, while getting out of bed, I experienced a  sharp pain in my scrotum after mashing it against the mattress.  I  realized then that both testicles WERE GONE (don't laugh!), and the sack was empty.  I have had no pain, just occasional itching as the sack remains empty.  I will be seeing a doctor soon, and I'm wondering how serious a problem this is!

I would greatly appreciate any comments.
