After a TURP failed to relieve a stiff, inflexible bladder, I needed to be manually catheterized. The nurses, who were otherwise very good to me, must have learned their catheter technique during the Inquisition. I mean, they just jammed it up there, causing me so much agony that I begged them to stop. Three months later, my urologist told me that I had a one-centimeter stricture in the prostrate, which he characterized as "a complete obliteration of the urethra." Three month later, we prepared to remove the stricture endoscopically, but by then it had grown to two inches, too large to cut out without a high risk of recurrence. Now the urologist wants to perform a simple prostatectomy, which, from Youtube videos, looks like simple butchery. Any advice on on how to resolve this problem?
